Guest guest
I like "Aum Kaala Chakra Bhramaaya Namah" Can anyone tell me the meaning of this name? I think it might mean that the wheel of time is in the hands of Devi Maa. Please clarify. Jai Mata Di, Raj "V. Guest guest
Namah shivaya Thank you Ravi for this delightful question. I simply love every name in the LS.. but like Prof.Vk and Sri Ramanan and Sradaha , I must say that for me too the name "Avyaja Karuna Murti" stands supreme. For it is Her avyAja karunA that is protecting me and nourishing me throughout my life. The other name that I love is the first name of Devi that occurs in the sahasranama- after Sri Mathre namaha, follows the description of Her form .. but then the first 'direct name" by which She is addressed is "kAmAkshi". that is another supreme name .. Since the names that address Amma's mercy mean so much to me, the names like karunarasasagara, nityaklinna, daya murti, prema rupa, saandra karunaa are some of my favorites. But supreme is avyAja KarunA ... followed closely by karunArasasAgara.. and Abrahmakitajanani ( Mother of all from Brhama down to a worm) there is another gem in the dhyana shloka itself- "KarunatarangithAkshim" - eyes that radiate waves of Mercy . when I first met my Guru Ammachi, it was this name that struck me as i was transfixed literally by seeing Amma's eyes brim over with tears of Love. Never had i seen such eyes before, brimming with so much Love and Mercy.. literally wet with compassion. Anyway , forgive my digression - i got carried away- but i too will say "avyAja karuna murti" is the name that is supreme in significance to me... Om Amriteshwaryai namah bala "V. Krishnamurthy" <profvk wrote: , Ramanan And Sharadha ramanan wrote: > > i will choose > " Avvyaja Karuna Moorthaye Namah" > > as she is the Supreme Mother. > > Ramanan and Sharadha Ramanan > Namaste Ramanan-ji, and Sharada Ramanan-ji, You beat me to it. Guest guest
namaste Rajitaji: Your explanation was fascinating. But the texts I have do not list this as a name by itself. But it is part of the name mukha-chandra-kaLaN^kAbha-mR^iganAbhi-viSeShakA mR^iganAbhi is taken to mean musk (based on deer's navel). Prof. VK also brings this name in the context of his Saundaryalahari discussion to show that is area in face where tilaka is applied is between the brows (based on the previous name, which talks about the forehead and next name, which talks about the eye brows). Guest guest
It is indeed difficult to choose but still I would choose "Om ichha-sakti-jnana-sakti-kriya-sakti- svarupinyai namah" which portrays Her as Power of will, knowledge and action, the powers which is part and parcel of every human life.
