Namaskar!

 

It is not only in SriVidya that the Upasana should be secretive! In all

sampradayas, it is insisted that the upasana be kept secretive. As all the paths

lead us by focussing on removing monsters such as pride, jealous etc (Shat vairi

vargam) and developing Saatvic gunas (Shat guna Sampath). This is a very

strenuous path as permissiveness sets in, unless we have deep and abiding faith

in our Guru and His guidance (visible and invisible).

 

While group worship or bahya puja provides immense avenues for growth around us,

only when we start addressing the core in us, our real progress begins. Our

progress is different from the progress in things around us.

 

If we take Sruti vakyam " Tyagena Ekena Amrutatvam...", in addition to

recitation, it is importat that the real meaning of tyagam is understood and

practiced. Mere recitation only brings mantra shakthi, but not experience.

Experience is important. "Secretive" / Guhyam helps us to experiment with us

without other sknowing about it.

has to be practiced with utmost secrecy as She is “ Ghuhya “ – As she dwells

secretly in the Heart of all of us. Therefore Our efforts are to be directed as

far as possible in wards. Ghuhya also means the inconceivable union of Jivathma

with paramathma. Truth is of two types the first one being an apparent Truth as

in worldly affairs and the second one is the undying Truth. The latter Truth is

the Gyana which is secret and can be unfolded with the grace of a guru and with

a Upasana practiced with secrecy. It is She who comes secretly as a Guru, it is

she who is secretly reveals Her as a Gyna Rupini, and through secretive means

alone She can be realized. Abhirama Bhatter in the Anthathi reveals this as : “

Vaakukum Manathukkum ettatha thirumurthy………………….. In the Bible we

see a similar reference --- St Mathew – 6 “ And when thou prays, thou shall not

be as the hypocrites are; for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and

in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto

you, they have their reward. “ “ But thou, when thou prays, enter into thy

closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret;

and thy father which seeth shall reward thee openly “ Jai Matha ji ganapathy
