Guest guest
Namaskaram, I think It is indeed a sad day for many of us, when this wonderful forum became less of a discussion forum but more of a journal about lalita sahasranama. I think that the moderator must have got tired of this group and wanted to take this to a different direction. Internet is a wonderful medium which offers instant communication and interaction. I earnestly trusted that this group, which is THE PRIME group for smartha and devi devotees to share and learn from each other. Alas, I now feel sad that this has taken a back seat. Lalita Sahasranamam is a miracle cure. He is indeed blessed who gets interest in this with the grace of ambaal. But, LS is a rahasya mantra and a potent but dangerous medicine. So, distributing LS as if it is a notice of local talkies is a modern development and needs to be discouraged. I will be better of reciting the maha mantra but simple slokam "Sarva Mangala mAngalyE...", which will bring better results. LS itself prohibits you from doing this. I think the moderator has a different take on that, though. He is the owner and I fully respect his views. Secondly, LS is not for discussion. This is for practice. Yes, We have plenty of wonderful commentaries and discourses on this maha sloka. These would have been given introduction by the Guru who initiates the mantra. It is a modern de-development that people want more and more discussions and less and less of practice. I see Bhajan sessions attended by hundreds, but very few even do daily sandhyavandanam; very few ladies even light up lamps at evening and pray. The modern craze is to collect as many as the rare data / info of various slokas. All slokas and all commentaries are becoming collectibles. I can guarantee from my own personal experience that a simple sloka is enough if practiced with faith. Ramana once said "How many mirrors you need before you know you have a beard? Just go and shave!" I wish to point out "How many commentaries we need before we practice devotion to mother." Third, and most important from my side, This development of journalizing this group is the biggest blow to the only source of sharing of information on other practical and ritual aspects of religion. This group should in-fact have been more focused on doing the normal and small things right. The well known modern thinking of "rituals are not important but the bhavanai only..." is true. But, This thinking is now a facade to hide the lack of faith in shruti and smrutis. My devotion to mother should only start from following her instructions, i.e. following the shastras faithfully. Everyday, I see people getting lost in understanding these things and need discussion and clarification. This group has unfortunately shut this avenue to this. Like Vinoba Bhave said "Doing one's duty is throwing stone in the water. It will keep raising the mud to the top, as long as the water is unclear. Similarly, as long as your mind is not pure, doing rituals without like or dis-like will become painful. Test yourself daily with this. The day you go ahead with rituals faithfully without discomfort is the day when your mind is pure". Just my thinking. I apologize for any misunderstanding it may unintentionally cause. I thank all devoted people in this group.
