[Moderator Note: -ubbu linga- is a Telugu usage which means bhole(a)(is like

saying bhole-nath in Hindi for Shiva) or one is who is easily pleased(by praise

or other means)]

“chaturbAhu samanvithA” (L.S.-7)

AdaranIya mahAsayAh,

Nothing specialty is there for having four arms. Because

there are so many deities and also demons are there with four arms, ten arms,

twenty arms and also a thousand arms. But here the holy mother is called

“chaturbAhu samanvitA”. Every one knows about the unlimited kindness of the

mother. If she starts giving by herself, there will neither be any end nor any

intermission.

The bahUs of her are very cleaver (chaturAs) hence all of

them constantly holding one each with pAsa, ankusa, Dhanush and bAnAs, with an

idea that the mother will not have any choice otherwise. It is just like the

nandi always guarding alertfully in front of Siva bhagavan, to prevent

undeserved devotees from snatching the undesirable boons from the ubbu linga[see

modrtr. notes]. But of course, the tiny look of the paradEvata , from a narrow

corner of her eyelid is enough, by which all the gods will come running to

attend at those devotees and instantly fulfill all their desires.

Not only that, the word “bAhu” is derived from ‘bahu’ i.e.,

“Bahutwa AkAN^xayA prabhavati iti bAhuhu”. “sO.akAmayata bahusyAm prajAyEyuhu”

The paramAtma has desired for some thing else. That is enough for the mother

chitChakti to inaugurate her presence in the form of “Om” the first

manifestation in the space, which actually was never there, but she has falsely

created some space, only within the all pervading paramAtma him self.

The pranavA`s appearance was in both visible and audible form.

It is just like, when two firestones strike with each other, we find a spark of

light and a chuck like sound both at a time. In the same way, the pranava also

appeared with its four limbs, a-u-m as bindu and artha chandra as the nAdha).

Just as the pranava is a combination of four KhandAs, The

panchadasi mahA mantra also, which is nothing else but the extension of pranava,

is said to have four KhandAs (limbs=bAhUs). These bAhUs unlike the material

gross bAhUs, will ceaselessly endowing boons to the sAdhakas independently by

themselves. Their actions are not controlled even by the paradEvata.

In all the four the first limb is called “vAgbhava” is enough to give vAk

siddhi, by which one becomes most attractive with his good speech and every one

will humbly obey his word unhesitatingly. what ever he says, it always become

true.

The second one is “kAmarAja” which will be securing every thing what ever are

the needs and what ever is desired by the devotee. So many people are attracted

to him and flock around to hear what he is saying.

The third one is “Sakthi kuta” by which all the puruShArthAs (Dharma, artha,

kAma and mOxa) would become an easy walk for him to accomplish.

Finally the remaining limb nAdA will become the bestowal of the total liberation

without any chance for rebirth. Then there will be no difference between the

original paramAtma and him self. “sarvamAtmaivAbhUt kEna kam pasyEt”
