Hi,

These references are difficult to determine. When I perform pujas, I state

the location as follows:

Bhoogolasya ( or atra prithivyAm) paschimArdhe Samyukta Rajaya America

Deshe, Toledo nAma nagare .... and if there is a river nearby, I name it and

say

...... nadyAm poorve/Paschime etc tIre.

Does any one have any advice as to how to modefy that?

Thanks.

Bharath, ganga, Yamuna etc... these are more than

names they have subtle and esoteric meanings

associated.

are the names America, Toledo etc... meaningful?

for kalasha puja we say gangecha yamuna chaiva etc..

do we change the names there too? we invoke the

essence of ganga and others in the water inside the

pot...

regards

I respectfully disagree.I think Vishwanathan is mixing up two separate

concepts. While the Kalasha is indeed one of the constanta in the puja process,

sankalpa is clearly designed to state the variables associated with the time,

place, the allignment of stars and the performer of the puja (yajman) as

indicated in the words amuk etc, which implies filling in the blanks depending

on

these variables. These details are changed in sankalpa even in every day

sandhya wndana. We do not think of what day or the tithi is in India today due

to

time zone difference and should go with what it is in the place of worship.

I am sure Hinduism, an all encompassing relegion that it is, is not

restrictive in these matters.

Thank you for your suggestion and I will close this issue here.

regards.
