Guest guest
In the context of an earlier message, a member wrote to me saying chAru means charming (i had translated it as beautiful) and there is no exact translation in English. I thank the member for his comments. Dictionaries give many meanings for chAru and all are in line with beautiful, charming, etc. Here is the commentary of Sri bhAskararAya on the names chArurUpA and chAruhAsA, chAruH sundaraM rUpaM lAvaNyaM hAsaH cha yasyAH | "tavaiva mandasmita bindurinduH" iti ukteH | paramAanda pradaH prabodha viSeSho gurumukhaika vedyo yasyA iti ti lakShaNayA kaSchit uche || chAru-rUpA means Her form is beautiful/lovely (yasyAH rupaM sundaraM). chAru-hAsA means Her smile is lovely/charming. In the context of SrimAtA, it is said (to Her) that "your smile is like moon (light)" - "tavaiva mandasmita bindur-induH". This statement has deep and hidden inner meaning, and it is capable of bestowing supreme joy and awakening of jnAnA. Hence, some say that it should be learnt from a guru. -- Once I understood (little bit of) the inner meaning of the phrase, I was amazed that how much information can be cryptically packed into that one sentence and how it is capable of giving what it is said to give. I initially tried to understanding it clearly and post it to . I sought her guidandance through prayer for understanding (at least superficially). But after understanding it a little bit, I think it better leave it a secret and cryptic as it stands. The reason I write this is, please spend some time thinking about it. It is fantastic. -- AchArya in his saundaryalaharI portrays an amazingly beautiful imagery to explain her smile.
