Can Divine Mother harm her children?

Pranams to all.

I've read through "Answers to some common doubts" section on

ambaa.org<http://ambaa.org>website.

http://www.ambaa.org/essays/answers.htm

I was very surprised to read the section which narrates GhanaapaaThi sundara

shastri avadhani's incident. Mother Goddess - who is full of love for her

children cant harm them - even when children make mistakes. My mother never

finds fault with either myself or my brother even we mistakes or behave

rudely towards her. When a human being can be so full of love for her

children, how can Mother Goddess who is the Mother of this Jagat take fault

to mis-pronounciation/wrong recitation and kill wives of her devotee/son.

GhanaapaaThi sundara shastri avadhani might have misread Kavacha of

Saptashati but his intention was not wrong. When Bhakta Kannappa offered

meat to Lord Shiva he didnt take offence. When Bhakta Kannappa placed his

leg on Shiva Linga to fix his second eye Lord Shiva didnt take offence as

these acts are out of devotion towards him.

My belief is that God/Goddess only looks at our intention / bhavam with

which we are reciting stotras or performing pujas. She will not harm her

kids for misunderstanding / mis pronounciation.

Please enlighten me on this.

- Mahesh.

In shiva purANa when the son of dadhIchi(not sure if it is dadhIchi

riShi or somebody else by that name), on a certain shivarAtri, does

shiva pUja without cleaning himself after copulating with his wife,

the punishment comes swift from the mountain dweller and he is cursed

to become a chAnDAla.

It is not devI who harmed that person. He hurt himself.

Ishvara is known to be only a sAkShi- witness

I dont think comparing devI with human mother will be of any help.

Furthermore, it should be remembered that mantra and prArthana/stuti

(human composed) are two different things.
