Guest guest
Om Shri Gurubhyo Namah. The "maha mantra" referred to here is the Gayatri Mantra (I think - folks can correct me here if I'm wrong). However, in this context, according to my Gurujis teachings, while the Shodashakshari has immense value to the chanter, it does not replace the Gayatri Mantra. So, if you are wearing the yagnopaveetham and have had Gayathri initiation, then your Sandhyavandanam is a pre-requisite to reaping the rewards of the Shodashakshari. There is no easy short- cut for this. Thanks and Regards. Guest guest
Dwelling on this interpretation... keeping the correct view that the Guru, who is one with Lalitha, the playful one initiates only one who deserves/destined to it...so the question of eligibility/ineligible doesnt arise at all SP , sankara menon <kochu1tz> wrote: > > "One could offer his head but not the shodasi mantra." should be read as > "One could offer his head but not the shodasi mantra to the ineligible." > > ganapathy = = vijaya <srividya101> wrote: > The greatness has been said in a sholka which could be summarised in a single sentence. Guest guest
While this sounds all good and nice to hear, unfortunately that is not reality. There are fake teachers(who build weird temples etc) and also undeserving ones who were given this mantra. This is not new. Some old tantra-s themselves talk about existence of such people during their times. Guest guest
My personal intuition is that divine mother chooses who enters into the path and who goes further on If a teacher gives the initiation to an undeserving he absorb his bad karma like sri ramakrishna was affected by cancer and this is most highest expression of compassion and even rates higher than earthly mother keeping us in the womb and protecting us for 9 months SP , "Satish" <satisharigela> wrote: > > While this sounds all good and nice to hear, unfortunately that is not > reality. Guest guest
Did Ramakrishna ever mention that his cancer is because he absorbed somebody's karma? Even if he said it, there is no way to verify that. So we need not take stories like this seriously. I doubt if there is anything called absorbing another's karma. We should be cautious of teachers and people who keep teaching things like that. Take a look at this, http://lists.advaita-vedanta.org/archives/advaita-l/2005-December/016098.html Even if one "absorbs bad karma"( whatever that means), that does not make teachers who indiscriminately give shrIvidya, any legitimate. Why do something prohibited and then suffer for it. > My personal intuition is that divine mother chooses who enters into > the path and who goes further on I am not a fan of all this "mystic talk" like above. I find it irrational and opposed to everyday reality. It will lead no where other than giving some emotional satisfaction for the moment. There are a bunch of foreigners who get initiated from innocent Indian teachers, only to reveal their treachery a couple of years later in the form of publications. I will stop here but you are free to have the last word.
