SRI KATHAYEE AMMAN

Near Kumbakonam in Tanjore District there is a village

called "SITHAADI". It lies between Kumbakonam – Nannilam Bus route

near PILAVADI. Sri Kathayee Amman, a family deity of thousands of

people, resides in a small temple on the banks of the river

Mudikondan in SITHAADI Village.

It is an ancient temple which came into being hundreds of years

ago. The statue of Sri Kathayee Amman was found in the Mudikondan

river by a priest of that temple, which was identified by Sri

Kathayee Amman herself. Full story of that temple and Sri Kathayee

Amman can be found in www.thamizhneram.com/sithadi.htm This famous

temple is under complete renovation and the KUMBABISHEKAM is

scheduled to be performed in the month of May 2006. In addition to

the expenditure already incurred, a sum of Rs.40 lakhs is needed to

complete the work and perform the KUMBABISHEKAM. All devotees of

Maa Sakthi are requested to contribute their might and receive the

blessings of SHRI KATHAYEE AMMAN.
