Guest guest
Pranams to all I wish you all a HAPPY UGADI. Also from 30.3.06 onwards vasanta navarAtri starts. Again my pranams to all of you. LS : mAtA R~ishi says "kuputro jAyeta kvachitapi kumAtA nabhavati" (there may be bad son but not bad mother). All are aware the bindings of a mother and child. The living god on earth is mother. But the one who is the mother for all – jIva prapanchA, jata prapanchA, chit & achit – is SHE. She is called here as "mother" (mAtA). The thought about the mother of all itself puts us into an eternal bliss. To make the sAdhanA easy and make it common for all - this name has been given to us. This is the easiest way to experience her and attain her. 1) Mother of the whole universe. 2) She is the form of letters. (mAtrukA rUpini). All the mantrAs are coming from her only. Comparison : mantrANAm mAtrukA devI – deyupanishat mantrANAm mAtru bhUtaca mAtrukA parameswarI - skAndam 3) The name of the titinitya devi of suklapaksha dasamI (10th day) and krishnapaksha sashti (6th day) is nitya. The mantra of this devI is noted symbolically as "mAtA" in the nAmapArAyanA. 4) As per padma purANA, the deity of kAyAvarOhaNa kshetrA is called as "mAtA". 5) The lakshmi bIjA is called as mAtA 6) As per amarakosA, "mA" is the name of srI lakshmi. Our mAtA is the one who gives wealth in the form of lakshmi 7) This name starts with letter `ma". This denotes jIva. To show her mercy on jIvAtmAs, she is in the form of mother. To denote clearly the same, this name has started with this letter. 8) This letter also denotes the "laya" (samhArA). As layakartrI, she gives us the eternal peace after all these our births and deaths. To denote this mercy of her, this name starts with this letter. 9) This name also points out that when we pray her as mother, our mamakArA will vanish. In vaishnava sidhAntA also they note "ma sabdham kaLai arukkriratu" (ma sound destroys our bindings – mamakArA) (ref : vyAkyAnA for tiruppAvai). 10) This is the important letter in panchAksharA. If you remove this letter from panchAksharA, the name will note just the opposite meaning (na + sivAya). (saint thyagarAja sings in a kIrtanA – sivamantramulaku ma jIvamu) 11) It is interesting to note that the south Indian music (rAgAs) (melakartA rAgAs) are grouped on the basis of "madhima" – (ma) swarA . The main meanings are taken from the commentary on LS published by guhAnanda mandali in Chennai. I am responsible for the errors and mistakes in the presentation and my interpretation. Kindly forgive me for my blunders and correct me also Many pranams to all pallathur vaidyanathan
