Guest guest
These are the details of an organization which is incorporated for the sole purpose of promoting various aspects of vaishnava religion and philosophy. This organization is a general organization established to serve many purposes. The name of the organization is: SRI AHOBILA MUTH 6949H Mary Caroline Circle, Alexandria, VA - 22310-4935 (703)-922-7251 ***NOTE: This is not specifically meant to serve as only AHOBILA MUTT of INDIA. THis is a general organization even though named as AHOBILA MUTH for some historical purposes. For example, one can send a check to this address payable to "SRI AHOBILA MUTH" and still write a note stating that this amount of money should be delivered for the purposes of "Thiruvarangan Temple - in India" then it will be done exactly as requested. ie. money will be forwarded to the mentioned authorities of thiruvarangan temple. This organization (SRI AHOBILA MUTH) is TAX EXEMPT in United states. Hence if one sends donations to this US organization one can save approximately 30% of the donation by claiming on the tax return. Following is an appeal from Tirumala Sri Ahobila Muth Complex Committee Please print this out and distribute it to as many people as you can. One can send checks to this address : Sri Ahobila Muth, in USA as given above and mention the preference for what purpose the money should be sent. that will be done by the organizers. The following is the brochure I received from our 45th Azhagia Singar ************************************************************* Srimathe Sri Lakshmi Nrisimha Divya Paduka Sevaka Srivan Satagopa Sri Narayana Yateendra Mahadesikaya Namaha Srimathe Sri Van Satagopa Sri Vedantha Desika Yatheendra Maha Desikaya Namaha By Knowledge, wisdom, austerity and spiritual powers, Sri Adivan Satagopa Yateendra Maha Desikan Swamy, the first jeer of the 600 year old Ahobila muth showered his sublime grace on the laity and the learned, commons and kings, who in turn, with gratitude offered at his feet, lands and riches for the service of Lord Srimannarayana. We are fortunate today to witness such a grand spectacle in the present 45th Jeer, Sri Lakshminarasimha Divya Paaduka Sevaka Srivan Sathagopa Sri Narayana Yateendra Mahadesikan, who by his discerning wisdom and strict austerity, has attracted one and all. The present Jeer, again like the first one, has many accomplishments for the upliftment of temples and paatha shaalas (religious schools). To name a few: 1. Construction of Nadabhavi (descending well) adjacent to Dasavataram Sannadhi, Srirangam. 2. Renovation of Temple tank at Ahobilam - cost of 14 Lakhs 3. Making of gold ornaments to Sri Prahlada Varada Swamy, Ahobila mutt 4. Construction of steps to bhairava kundam at Upper Ahobilam (Place of lord Lakshmi Nrisimha's avatar) 5. Celebration of Malola Vidwat Sadas in grand scale 6. Investment of Rs. 1 Lakh to cover the daily needs of Alwar Tirunagari (near tirunelveli) Temple archakas and performance of utsavam 7. Rs. 50,000 donation to Mannargudi temple renovation 9. Presentation of stone studded padakkam to Sri Ramanuja in Sri perumbudur 10. Renovation of veda paata saala in Madurantakam ............... and so on. TOPPING THIS ALL is the proposed Sri Ahobila Muth Complex on the top of TIRUMALA HILLS: which is planned to be 15,265 sqft site (approx 2core Rs.) with shrines, quarters for archakas, dormitory for visitors who come there to get the blessings of both Lakshmi Nrisimha and the resident lord Sri Lakshmi Venkatesha. All the money collected will go to provide facilities for Bhagawathas. If Dharma is the proper method of utilization of our wealth this should be a good cause. It seems, according to Bramhanda purana, Lord Srinivasa (Balaji) directed Bramha at the time of his marriage with Padmavathi, to offer the food prepared for the wedding feast to Sri Lakshmi Nrisimha of Ahobilam (in andhrapradesh) and partook the consecrated food. There is a shrine for Sri Srinivasa in Lower Ahobilam Temple even now and lord Balaji has chosen to give a new abode to Lord Lakshmi Nrisimha by his side at Tirumala Tirupathi. Your generosity in supporting this dharmic cause is requested. Donation details: 1. A person (or two) may pay Rs. 300,000 for room construction in guest house. the sum can be paid in 3 installments. Guest guest
It is a laudable goal to try to renovate temples, but I have one concern when it comes to giving money for the construction of the Mutt facility at the Tirumala hill site. When I visited Tirupati last December, it was implicit but clear that only brahmins were welcome to stay at the Sri Vaishnava choultries. In fact, at the Andavan Asramam choultry, the proprietor apologized to us because his facility was full for the day, but asked us to try some of the other mutts, where "only brahmins are admitted." If we choose to be donors, we should make sure our money works in humane ways. I would be very much bothered if money that I give to the Ahobila Mutt goes toward constructing a facility that discriminates on the basis of caste.
