For starters, nihilism also requires faith for there

is no proof of its infallability. The existence of

god or the truthfulness of his promise in sarama slokam, etc.

cannot be proven by logic (yukthi) alone, thus we need

faith. This faith, it seems to me, must be anchored upon

some principles/objectives. For an individual it may be

peace of mind. Faith in god and the promise of eternal

happiness at his feet is the source of happiness *here and

now*. This in turn turns out to be good for the society as

well. If the spirit of sri vaishNavam motivates all our

actions (easier said than done) not just the individual, but

the entire community benefits. It will be difficult for me

to have faith in a system that promises everything in the

after life and none at the present.
