Guest guest
For starters, nihilism also requires faith for there is no proof of its infallability. The existence of god or the truthfulness of his promise in sarama slokam, etc. cannot be proven by logic (yukthi) alone, thus we need faith. This faith, it seems to me, must be anchored upon some principles/objectives. For an individual it may be peace of mind. Faith in god and the promise of eternal happiness at his feet is the source of happiness *here and now*. This in turn turns out to be good for the society as well. If the spirit of sri vaishNavam motivates all our actions (easier said than done) not just the individual, but the entire community benefits. It will be difficult for me to have faith in a system that promises everything in the after life and none at the present. -- Dileepan p.s. The above is just some vague thoughts, not intended as answers.
