Guest guest
That the Vaisnavas os south india take a bath if they visit Siva temple is probably an overstated untruth. However, i am looking for clarification for what transpired on this group a week ago. It was asked why Sri Ramanuja was not welcome at Siva temples and the reply was that Sri Ramanuja had no reason to go to a Siva temple. I am trying to understand this. Why had Sri Ramachandra a reason to establish the Siva lingam at Rameshwaram? Why did Chaitanya Mahaprabho make efforts to visit the Jyotirlingam at Srisailam and was fulfilled by the darshan of Lord Siva and Mother Parvati? I do not think it can be constued in any way that the supremacy of LOrd Vishnu is questioned here. It is not that one needs to please all the Gods becasue offerings to Lord Vishnu satisfies all the Gods, as stated by Lord Krishna in Bhagavad Gita. But, as the greatest devotee of the Lord Vishnu, what is our relationship we want to maintain wiht Lord Siva? -Eswar Josyula
