Guest guest
Does anyone in the group know if the life histories of the AzhwArs' and their works have been translated and published in English either in India or USA? If so can you give me the publication details? Jaganath.
Guest guest
The life histories of the Azhvaars have been published in English twice as far as I know. 1. Author: Varadachari, K. C. Title: Alvars of South India [by] K. C. Varadachari. [1st ed.] Bombay, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, 1966. Description: xix, 200 p. 19 cm. Series: Bhavan's book university, 143. 2. Author: Govindacharya, Alkandavilli. Title: The holy lives of the Azhvars, or, The Dravida saints / by Alkondavilli Govindacharya. Bombay : Ananthacharya Indological Research Institute, 1982. Description: lxxvii, 226 p., [1] fold. leaf of plates ; 19 cm. Series: Ananthacharya Indological Research Institute series ; no. 13. Notes: Includes passages in Sanskrit. Reprint. Originally published : Mysore : G.T.A. Pres, 1902. Includes bibliographical references. The first may be available at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in India. The second is available in Triplicane, at Sri Ramanuja Vedanta Centre, 10 South Mada Street (right next to Parthasarathy Swami Kovil). The one by Sri Govindacharya is more detailed; the one by Sri Varadachari has more translations of paasurams. Mani
