Guest guest
All the gems that are available in the universe are not comparable to the rathanam or gem known as kushthubam that was churned out of the ocean thirup paaRkadal and that this gem occupied the thiru maarbu or chest of the Lord Vishnu. (we donot have to deep dive into any ocean to seek the gem; the gem is already provided to us in the form of Swami Desikan who is the incarnation of this gem known as Kausthuba mani !) All the puNNIya kshEthrankaL are not a match for "kaanchi" where our pEraruLaaLan stands with his infinite grace pouring as rains from the clouds that are his infinite mercy. Those vedams smruthi and puraanams that were revealed to us with pure hearts by the rishis, are not even any match and cannot be compared to our achaaryaas such as Nammaazhwaar's, shukthi. Hence the qualitative comparisons of all the available vasthus (vasthu here means any object ie "nagar" or town, "gem", and "knowledge" through holy literature) are declared here in this rahasyam and those that are prominently claimed here as uncomparable are to be sought as a heriditary property kept for us by our elders. kaasiniyin maNiyanaiththuNG kaayaa vaNNan kadaintheduththa kavuth thuvaththin seermaik kovvaa kaasimutha laakiya nan nagari yellaaNG kaarmEni yarauLaaLar kachchik kovvaa maasin manan theLi munivar vaguththa vellaa maalugantha vaasiriyar vaarththaik kovvaa vaasiyaRin thivai yuraiththOm vaiyath thuLLeer vaippaaka vivai koNdu maghizhmi neerE Amrutha swaathini by Swami Desikan This paasuram not only suggests that when we have the heriditary property the uncomparable gem (ie Kaushthuba Mani as Swami Desikan and its radiance are his paasurams) we donot have to deep dive to get the gem out of the ocean (as suggested by our friend) but also declares that nammaazhwaar's paasruams are more than all the vedams, shruthis, and puraaNams put together. The word 'saakiyap pEygaL' has a very deep meaning than what it looks outwardly and hence it is requested that one would want to examine such before quoting these. As an aside It is a similar reason that we also adore our Sri Mani, who was the reason for this net that we are all using as our "wholly" inherited property and share those information on those "holy" inherited property. Guest guest
Is not Swami Desikan normally considered an amSa of the ghanTa (bell or in Tamil, thirumaNi) of Thirupathi Srinivasa PerumaaL? This is what his son declares in the Vedanta Desika MangalaaSaasana stotram. Kulasekhara Alvar is considered an amSa of the kaustubha maNi. I have not heard Desikan equated to this jewel. Are there any references to this? Mani
Guest guest
Swami Desikan is considered as the avathaarams of thirumani of Lord Venkatachalapathy by some. He propagated SriVaishnavam loud and clear similar to the sound of a temple bell. Swami Desikan is considered as Vishnu amsam , a revisit of kaushthuba mani (first as kulasEkara aazhwaar) and now as Swami Desikan. Kuashthuba mani bears the reflection of Garudan all the time and Swami Desikan first sought the initiation by Sri Garudaazhwaar. It is narrated in Swami Desikan's life history that when he visited Thirumalai he stood on the kulasEkarap padi and his eyes watered down with aananthak kaNNeer. Swami Desikan is considered as avathaaram of Lord VenkatEswara HIMself by some due to his birth day and birth star ie purattaasi sravaNam. He declares in his songs himself as venkatEsa kavi and one of his birth name is also same. (similar to the belief that avathaaram of thiruk kaNNapuram perumal as requested by thirumangai was periya vaachchaan pillai who was also very exemplery in 4000 vyaakyaaNams) Swami Desikan is considered as revisit of Sri Rama avathaaram as per his horoscope (refer to his 700 centinary celebrations release). ie the revisit of veda purushan and purshOthaman Sri Raman. Swami desikan was so exemplary both in his conduct as a veda purushan and also in his knowledge on vedaantham that lead him to be named as vEdaantha dEsikar. Swami Desikan is considerd as revisit of Sri Bashyakaarar by some, who was the avathaaram of Sri Adi sEshaa. Adi sEsha's body has the vedic constitution and that no one could have delivered the *real* meanings of vedaa other than adi sEsha himself. Since Swami dEsikan also was similar to this, in his understanding and deliverances on vedic interpretations, and that he was the sole reason for Sri Raamanuja sidhdhaantham to be strengthened with his deliverances, some consider this way. Swami dEsikan's achievements are uncomparable and no *single* person has delivered so many granthaas in this boolOgam as such. On the whole, he is vishnu amsam and a composite of all these features of Lord Vishnu.
