A cook book in Kannada by "vEdhamma" contains many Iyengar

recipes. I wonder whether that book is still in print or if there are

translations. Some of our Kannada members could enlighten.

I do not think there are recipes in 4000. However, I believe

there are indeed recipes for various foods and medicines

in some of the nayanmar's works like those of thirumoolar's

thirumandhiram. Krupaanandha vaariyaar's talks usually include

some of these recipes in such great detail that you can

cook based on those talks.

Perhaps the Kidaambi/Kadambi/KiLaambi lineage has maintained

some of the recipes of Kidaambi Acchaan, who used to cook

for Sri Ramanuja.

I am only familiar with a small part of

the Prabandham, but even there, there are some

dishes mentioned. Andal promises Azhagar at

thirumaaliruncholai that she will fill 100 pots

full of akkaara-vadisil. I know that akaara-vadisil

is milk-based, but I have only eaten it a handful

of times (quite yummy!) so I don't know what's in

it.

Also, Periyaazhvaar in yashoda-bhaava tells kaNNan

that

appamkalandha siRRuNdi akkaarampaalilkalandhu

soppadan^aan_suttuvaiththEn thinnaluRidhiyEln^ambee!

She has prepared appam, siRRuNdi, akkaaram with milk

and other things ready for him to eat. Many of these

dishes are still made on Sri Jayanthi in orthodox

households.

I leave it for the real chefs to actually give uss

recipes!
