Guest guest
Dear Members of the Bhakti List, I was thrilled to read Sri Sadagopan's summary of Padhuka Sahasram. His summary of the Padhuka's characteristic of curing the arrogant of their ego and elevating the status of the humble supplicant was brilliant. The related references to Lord Rama and Bharata were beautiful. I particularly liked his mention of the inner meaning of the Divya Mani Padhuka i.e., without the Padhuka there would be no Guru Parampara to mention. In a related reference, motivated by Nammazhwar's works, Swami Desikan brilliantly salutes the Lord of Seven Hills in the Daya Shatakam, where Daya is described as an important Kalyana Gunam of Lord Srinivasa. Guru Parampara is mentioned in the salutation ".... Sheetalam Guru Santatim. Srinivasa Dayambodhi: Parivaha Parampara". This is a brilliant salutation in which Swami Desikan very succinctly states that "I salute the Guru Parampara through the cool waters of the ocean of mercy known as Srinivasa-the Guru Parampara itself which originates from (the feet of) this ocean of mercy." This salutation seen in the context of Sri Sadagopan's eloquent account of the Padhuka Sahasram beautifully ties in the "Satakopatvam" of Ranganatha Divya Mani Padhukas, the Guru Paramapara, Daya and its connection to the Lord of Seven Hills and Nammazhwar's genius. Thanks again Sri Sadagopan for a very moving piece on the blessed Padhukas of Lord Ranganatha. Namo Narayana, Muralidhar Rangaswamy
