Guest guest
To Sri Sadagopan's list of various Ramayanas, I wish to add Periya Vaaccaan Pillai's ``paasurappadi raamaayaNam.'' This ingenious work is a retelling of the story of Rama using only words from the Divya Prabandham. In K.K.A. Venkatachari's opinion, this is the finest example of Tamil literature from this period. Let me give a brief example: maNNulakaththOruyya, ayOdhdhiyannum aNi nagaraththu venkithirOn kulaththukkOr viLakkaay, kousalai than kula mathalaiyaay thayarathan than makanaay thOnRi kuNanthigazh koNdalaay ... I request the net thamizh vidvaans to translate this excerpt for the rest of us. Mani
