Thanks for bringing out the meaning of Kimapi and drawing the parallel from

Upanishads. If my memory serves me correctly, I thought the word is "Kamapi".

Also in Daya Satakam Swami Desikan notes:

 

Kamapi Anavadhim Vandhe Karuna Varunalayam..." Here "Kamapai" is translated in

tamil as (Sollirkum, Manadhukkum ettadhavan) which is exactly the way you had

pointed.

 

Mani, I also notice that my short posting on Nanmukhan Thiruvandhadi has been

missed. I am reposting the same below.

I greatly enjoyed reading Shri Sadagopan's article on NAnmukhan ThiruvandhAdi.

These following paragraphs from Shri Sadagopan's article are enough to show

that the path laid out for us by Ramanujacharya is indeed the surest and safest

path to attain the supreme. I suppose, such wonderful thoughts are necessary

for us as a constant reminder to reinforce "Maha Vishwasam".

"Thirumazhisai AzhwAr is known as one , who learned the tenets

of Jainism , Bhouddham , Saiva Aagamams and discarded them

as not appropriate for Moksham and chose Sriman NaarAyaNan

as the one and only supreme Lord , who alone can bless one

with the boon of Moksham . He declares his struggles and

the insight born out of these efforts this way :

 

saakiyam kaRROm samaN kaRROm , SankaranAr,

aakkiya Aagama nool aarainthOm bhakiyatthAl

senkatkkariyAnai sernthOm yaam theethilamE

yengatkkariyathonRil

 

Here AzhwAr declares that after his futile efforts to

understand the supreme principle of the universe

through studies of religions such as Jainism ,

Buddhism and Saiva AgamAs created by Lord Sankara ,

he was blessed with insight by Sriman NaarAyaNa and

took refuge at he Lotus feet of Sri Devi and has been

spared form any misfortunes since then . "

Yes, thanks for correcting me. It is "kamapi" in the

Daya Satakam; kam is the masculine objective form, kim

is the neuter form.

 

While thinking about this, a few more examples came

to mind:

 

kApi kAruNya-rASi:

 

on the Beloved's incomparable compassion.

There is also one from the VaradarAja PanchASat

that is escaping me right now. If anyone remembers

it (it is either kApi or ko'pi) please post!
