Guest guest
Dear Esteemed List Members, My words were hastily written and poorly chosen, both in the original article and in the followup. My deepest apologies for any hurt feelings either time. To clarify my own original point, I meant not to question the efficacy of any mantra but only our own motivation for its use. Happily, many people have picked up the discussion at a much higher level than at which I started it. Srikanth is correct when he says Sri Krishna respects all types of bhaktas. In my haste I did not revisit the passage in question and read it thoroughly. However, it appears beyond doubt that Sri Krishna wishes for us to only shoot for the highest, even if we fail miserably in the process. I feel that He would be happiest with us if we would, even if to a very minor degree, follow Andal's footsteps and declare, ``maRRai nam kaamangaL'' -- change all our desires to what You alone wish.
