Guest guest
Sri Rukmani Samedha Sri Parthasarathy Swamine Namaha : This is in reference to 7 lokams: ezhulageyirrinil kondanai - Thiruvezhukutrirukkai poruma neelpadai aazhisangathodu thiruma neelkazhal ezhulagum thozha - Thiruvaimozhi 1-10-1 oorayiramaiy olagezhalikum perayiram kondathOr peedudaiyan - Thiruvaimozhi 9-3-1 This are some references of 7 lokams by Kaliyan and Kurugur Maran by no means complete. Incidentaly next to Srirangam we regard Thirumalai Thirupathi where there is 7 hills (sapthagiri) Then we have saptharishi(Athri, Bhrughu, Kutsa, Vasishta, Gautama, Kasyapa, Aangirasa) whom we also salute in everyday Sandhyavandhanam. There may also be 7 seas (I vaguely remeber ezhu kadal) not sure though. If any one has any thoughts it will be interesting. Thanks very much for sharing the blessings of Sri Narasimhar (Thelliya singar as he is called in Triplicane) very aptly at the time of Narasimha Jayanthi. While I dont want to get really into the conversation of Srimans Mani Varadarajan, Krishna Kalale, Mohan Sagar I do wish to point out that many learned authors have indicated that that it is the words in Sanskrit that are really important. The language of Sanskrit is such that it can convey a whole lot in a single but complex word. And I think that is also the reason why it can be interpreted differently by different people. I am really enjoying all the postings and thank everyone for sharing your thoughts. What ever I knew about kumbabishekam: Sri Vaishnavas call it SamprokshaNam Saivites call it kumbabishekam. The temple and the lord in the Garbagraha after being constructed as per Silpa Sastras and is ready for next step. Then they start with 108 kalasams(1008 also is possible) or less and consecrate the homa gundam and chant vedas , upanishads , puranams etc. and Thiruvaimozhi. There is some ratio like for so many kalasams so many 1000 times homam with agni etc., This is done for about 7 or 10 days and all the energy is consecrecated in the water. This water in the kalasams is being sprayed in case of Samprokshanam and showered in the case of kumbabishekam on to the Gopuram/S of the temple and also on the Deities of the temple. All the idols get the Sakthi thru this process and every year after that Thiru Pavithra uthsavam will be done to establish the powers of the idols. Even though there are differences Saivite or Srivaishnavite temples follow either vaikanasa or Sripancharathra agama which is the same. As per showering the holy water on the kalasams as opposed to just spraying by Srivaishnavites may have to do with Lord Siva being abhisheka priyar and Lord Vishnu being Alankara priyar. May be not ? Everything correctly stated in the above post is entirely due to the grace of my Acharyan. All errors are due to my shortcomings. I just borrowed this from Sri. Muralidhar Rangaswamy since it applies to me as well. Adiyen murali
