Guest guest
Dear friends, Today is "sravaNam" .... the day to especially worship Lord TiruvEngada-mudaiyAn and Swami Desikan. It's a good day, I believe, to re-commence posts on "bhishma-stuthi". Thank you too, Sri.Sadagopan, for your little note of appreciation. As desired by you it will be my privilege to continue discussions on the "stuthi". adiyEn/dAsan, sudarshan
Guest guest
In connection with Bhishma, I just remembered something that I thought I should share with members on this list. Lakshmana Suri, a great Sanskrit scholar, and father of Justice T. L. Venkatarama Iyer, wrote a prose work called Bhishma Vijayam in Sanskrit. Ten years ago, I had the privilege of working on the proof-reading the printer's drafts, along with my Sanskrit guru, Pandit P. K. Nagaratna Sarma of Bombay. This work is novel in that it is a rendering of the entire Mahabharata from the perspective of Pitamaha Bhishma, and highlights his central role in the epic. This is one of the few works of quality Sanskrit literature to be composed in this century. Vidyasankar
