The very hearing of the name of this pushkarani will cleanse all the sins of those who are hearing about it. The pushkarani is a very beautiful one surrounded by the pasumai of tanjore delta. In the southern banks of this pushkarani there is a sannithi for addinaathan in a sitting posture as similar to Srivaikundam. There are some research efforts that are being carried out on this sannithi from the purAnic sources. The main reason for naming this part as sravana pushkarani is such that readers may benfit from very chanting of this name as they read this part. Prathyaksham : or those who had the darshan of the Lord here: Lord Brahma, Sri Gowthama, King Ubarisaravasu, Sri Vasishtar, Sri Brugusauthyar, Sri mAadarar, thirumangai Azwar HIMself. There are some details presented in adiyEn's thala purAnam on "thiruk kaNNa puram" kshEthram written two years ago as to what aspects of a place or a "divya dEsam" constitue an "ashtAkshara mantra siddhi" kshEthram. Similar to that, this kshEthram also has some "adaip peyar" or a special name due to its constituents, known as "pancha pathrA". 1. River, 2. Woods or Jungle 3. Town or nagaram 4. Temple 5. theerttham There may be many places or divay dEsams that have these 5 aspects in it. But this divya dEsam has some type of speciality in each of these 5 aspects. That is why this is referred in purAnAs as "pancha pathrA".
