My Namaskarams to everyone in this group,

I have enjoyed reading the postings and have learnt a lot.

I finished reading " THE sundara and The yudha Kandam" today.

I believe the ramayana shows us how a husband , wife ,son brothers

and the daughter in law should behave at different times and the

different kinds of love that is acceptable between each other.

Is there anywhere an example of how a brother and sister's affection or

love should be .

Are we to accept the love of Ravana for Surpanaka , which lead to the

Rama Ravana yuddha as an example?

I am sorry to ask such a silly question, but the more i think about it

i am unable to think of any other story that tells us this kind of love.

could someone enlighten me on this.

thanks,

kanaka

In my opinion, more than the affection Ravana had for Surpanaka it was the

way in which Surpanaka explained about the beauty of Sita which made Ravana

jealous and made him to do the Sita apharaNam.

As the story goes, when Surpanaka told Ravana that Lakshmana had cut her

nose off, Ravana was certainly enraged and he wanted to destroy Rama and

Lakshmana just to prove his supremacy. However Surpanaka was not

satisfied at this and hence she started describing the beauty of Sita,

thus injecting the poison in the mind of Ravana.

This was the cause of Ravana steathily going to Panchavati and

kidnap(!!!) Sita to Lanka.

So in my opinion it was not the affection of a brother and sister

which was the cause for the great Rama Ravana yuddham.
