Guest guest
Sri: Dearest Sri Mani, I completely agree with you, that when we attempt to concentrate our minds, they go jumping wildly much faster than any fastest thing in the world. When ArjunA reports that to KrishNA, "sanchalam hi mana: krishNA...", KrishNA's answer is: only "abhyAsam" can help. (Sri Gopal, please forgive me for any transliteration mistake!). My revered AchAryA, Sri PaRavaakkOttai Swami, Srimad Poundareekapuram ANdavan, during his upadEsam mentioned that it is difficult to control the mind; However, he suggested to keep any picture /photo of our "ishta" form of Sriman NarayaNa, (Sri Rama, Sri Krishnan, Sri Ranganathan, Sri VenkatEsa PaerumAL, Sri Oppiliappan, Sri LakshmI Hayagreevan or kutti KaNNan, or any Divya Desa PerumAL, or any avtaar of our Lord, or even just the two Divya maNi pAdukAs) in our front ; or sit in front of that picture with our eyes pleading the Lord (or His pAdukAs/ Feet) for mercy and imagine ourselves bathing Him, dressing Him, making Him eat, adorning Him with most valuable ornaments, etc,, and making Him to sleep, while our lips murmur the Gayathri japam or the ashtAksharam continuously. (It was quite useful to follow; but, you know, maNi, still, my mind wanders with the same speed! The amount of sins is so huge that pulls the mind out. It is our sincere prayer to our Most Merciful Divya Dampatis to grant us such concentration in order to do little justice to these MahA manthrams.) May Sri RanganAyikA samEtha Sri RanaganAthan bless us as They do ALWAYS!
