Guest guest
Sri: Dearest Sri Mani, Your starting off “VibhIshaNa saraNAgathy” and subsequent posts on the subject/thread are really superb. We enjoy them thoroughly. Your friend (or is it you?)’s arguments simply brush all points aside. I have some points of little worth. 1. No doubt SitA PiraaTTi or Thaayar is essential for recommendation and Purushaakaaram, because mothers are always more kind and more merciful. But that does NOT absolutely mean that fathers are always harsh. It is for the children’s betterment and benefit that we pretend to be angry. Emperumaan does show mercy to the Greatest extent to even His enemies, as in the case of rAvaNA (asking him to come next day). It is when the bhakthAs have done enormous sins (like us), the sins are so huge that Emperumaan and PiraaTTI together only can shower mercy to extinguish them. Hence, for VibhIshaNA, since he was so nice a bhAgwathA/prapannan, his case did not necessitate PiraaTTi’s help. Sri Rama alone could manage. (But our case- NO! We need all 108 Divya Desam PerumAL, and PiraaTTis, 10 avataars, and Paramapadhanaathan Sriya: Pathih to save us from this dirt.- No! single handed poor Rama or KrishNA can not handle! AmmA! Please help Him! He is over loaded heavily! “maathaa dEvi thvamasi Bhagawaan vaasudEva: pithaaamE”. 2. Also, to substantiate Lord’s KaaruNyam, it is told that Lord NarasimhA tore the chest of hiraNyan first to check if there is any love for His BhakthA, Prahalaada. Had there been any, He would have NOT killed hiraNyan, perhaps. Such a love He has for His BhakthAs. (Thaayar and PerumAL, in fact compete with each other in showing Their mercy on Their BhakthAs.) 3. There is also an interesting anecdote on Paraasara Bhataar, who is reported to be blessed with the bhAgyam of conversing with Lord RanganAthA. When the Lord, once went around in His Mohini alankaara Uthsavam, He was simply so beautiful and divine that BhakthAs thronged to obtain a darshan of that exquisite beauty of their Lord in mOhini alankaaram. Lord Himself was pleased with the alankaaram. When Bhattar was asked later by Emperumaan as to how the alankaaram that day was on Him, Bhataar replied with an impish smile “ Lord! You looked so divine; so beautiful; so great; so feminine in that alankaaram! But What to do! That “veNNai thirudan” (butter theif)’s eyes could not be hidden and that failed Your alankaaram, my Lord! There it is always our Mother who wins with a tremenous score over You on Her mercy towards us! And the Lord DID NOT GET ANGRY. HE FELT PROUD OF PIRAATTI. So, If there is someone among us, who says (like Your friend, Mani), PerumAL need not be accompanied by PiraaTTi for His granting mOksham to us, then immediately and naturally, PIRAATTI, Thaayaar, will feel elated and be happy to hear that (and they will be blessed and recommended to PerumAL by thaayaar). On the other hand, should someone argue that It is always PiraaTTI who, by being in His chest, or by His side, or by proxy, recommends the case for the Lord to gtant mOksham and Emperumaan can NOT single handedly grant, then the Lord is very happy and pleased to hear that and is proud of PiraaTTi. He blesses them (even before Thaayaar’s recommendation) immediately. (So, who all are appa chellam? And who are all amma chellam?) Please forgive me for any errors or mistakes. Just to enjoy the Divya Dampatis, I had thought of these points. Just felt like writing something to add to this thread, Mani. I suppose your friend is never convinced, so that we can continue to get some replies. May Sriya:pathih bless your friend as They do always. Guest guest
Sri: Dearest Sisters and Brothers, Wish you all a VERY HAPPY DEEPAVALI! After reading the excellent posts on VibhIshaNa SaraNAgathy, to add further insight into VibhIshaNa saraNAgathy, I was going through Swami Desikan’s SillaRai RahasyangaL Part 2.- 1. Abhayapradhaana Saaram- Adhikaaram 4 Para 39. Says: In Sri Paancharaathra Saasthram, Sarvajna samhiththai, mentions five limbs of Prapatthi (which we are all aware of : anukoolyasya sankalpam…prathikoolyasaya varjanam, etc..). Here, it mentions that VibhIshaNan offered his upadEsam to rAvaNan and his supporting asurAs to return SithA PiraaTTi to PerumAL and live happily with His grace. Thus, VibhIshaNan had performed his anukoolyasya sankalpam. VibhIshaNan also left all his properties, relationship with rAvaNan, his spouse, children, and all that he possessed royally- and surrendered to Rama empty handed, telling He alone is his refuge and he has none else. There he performed his prathikoolyasya varjanam. He did not at all fear to come to the enemy of his elder brother and was confident that Rama will save; His MahAviswAsam was shown there. I surrender to You; Please be my savior and save me; He performs Gopthruva varaNam. He laments at his past life wasting all his life and time offering upadEsam uselessly to rAvaNan and regretfully appeals as a lowly self to Rama to save him and had KaarpaNyam. 2. After both parties talked for and against accepting VibhIshaNan, Rama requested Vaanaraas (monkeys) to lend their ears and listen to Him and then consider. (in Adhikaaram 5- Para 63 to 70) "Since VibhIshaNan has perfoormed his surrendering to Me with all five limbs, and even if he has got wrong intentions (as some of you are arguing and doubting him) I shall never let down a prapannan (even he is acting). Imagine I need to rush to him if he had yelled from the other side of the Ocean and surrendered from there. He has made my job easy by coming over to Me. It is like a lame man getting Ganges falling on top of his head at his place. How can I let him down? In fact, he has left all his belongings, relations, the royal life, the comforts, etc.. and surrendered to Me. He did not even have a doubt whether I will save him or accept his appeal. Furthermore, he has considered all of you, as Purushaakaaram (recommendations) and requested you to consider and recommend his case to Me, since you all are dearer to Me. 3. Rama further adds: " what is the use of doing research and investigate whether we need to accept him or not to accept him. Where is the strength for me to LEAVE AND LET DOWN SOMEONE WHO HAS SURRENDERED TO ME ONCE AND ANNOUNCED THAT " I am Your servant; I have become Your property.". Even if his intentions are wrong, (I can manage that later single handed) and even if he is only pretending to be good, even if there is going to be dire consequences due to my accepting him, and I am going to accrue countless paapams due to that, I STILL CAN NEVER LET HIM DOWN. Even if it is rAvaNan, if he surrenders, I will accept him. 4. Rama adds that the elders will not think low of this action of mine as something bad. In fact, they all will hail this action of mine and if the intentions of vibhIshaNa are wrong, (which actually is not ) it will only glorify our accepting him further. I can throw my enemies just with the help of my finger nails. Not to worry that it is going to lead us astray. Just to share my enjoyment. How Great is our Rama! How Great is His Grace!. He is a Sathya vrathan. Dhruda vrathan. Guest guest
Sri Mathe Ramanujaya namaha: Sri Venkata Gurave namaha: Dear Freinds, i was out of station for some days and hence could not follow the discussion on this subject. i feel i have missed a lot. however, while i was going thru the postings, someone has mentioned that why was people like marricha, etc were killed by Sri Rama even when piratti was at his chest. the crux of the issue is the follwing: 1. wheneven there is bhagavata apacharam , God does not just care,. he kills. please go thru the all the avatars of our Sriman Narayana, demons were mostly killed due to their bhagavata apacharam as in the case of prahalada. 2. in case if it bagavat apacharam , Here God has discreation, only here piratti's purushakaram comes in to picture. like kakasura episode etc. in this context, it is worth remembering how God perceives the sins of the people. 1. if he is a prapanna, he takes it as a good deed.(pl refer to Periyalwar thirumozhi-" en adiyar ethu seiyyar, seitharal, nannru seithar) my devotee, will not do this, even if he does something, it is only good. attitude. 2. even if god is angry at some deeds of people, it is piratti, who requests him to pardon the sins. (this is exactly purushakaram as in the case of kakasura..) as iam sending this posting today, i am sure the above issues would have already been discussed by our group. kindly pardon me if you consider this redundent. With respects, K.M. Narayanan ____ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
