Dear Prapatti Group Members:

Adiyen understands the meaning of Sattrumurai as follows:

(1) Sattrumurai literally means a method or a procedure (murai) to complete

or close (Satthu) a proceedings. There are different Sattrumuaris: Veda

Sattrumurai, Prabhandha Sattrumurai, Koil Tiruvaymozhi Sattrumurai etc.,

What is usually done in a Sattrumurai is: the last few verses from each of

the portions used to do the Aradhanam or PArAyanam is picked up and chanted

in the end. For eg. We pick up the last two verses from Tiruppavai, the

final anuvakam from Maha Narayana Upanishad etc., and the concluding slokas

from Ramayana, Bhaghavat Geetha and Vishnu Puranam to chant during the

Sattrumurai.

(2) Sattrumurai could also mean - PushpangalAl Sattuvadhu. In this case

the flowers are Mantra Pushpa.

Most, if not all of the Sandhya Vandhana Mantras are of Vedic origin.

It can be found in the The Maha Narayana Upanishad.
