Sri:

Dearest Sisters and Brothers,

Here is the next ten from ThirumazhisaiAzhwAr’s Naanmugan

Thiruvandhaadhi.

1. The curse on Sivan from BrahmA was removed by Narayanan, much to

everyone’s knowledge on this earth. Such Greatest Chief of NithyasUris-

and Oh fools! You all do not even praise Him with your lips! The place

where you all are caught up underlying these births, and deaths, is a

vast, cruel, never ending big phenomenon like the ithihasas (epics)

(means: so complex and big! AzhwAr warns us of the Cruel samsaara

saagaram!)

2. Smruthis, Ithihasaas are all Emperumaan’s sankalpams. Those who waste

their time even for a fraction of a second on any other issue/object

other than Emperumaan, will ONLY do harm to us. It is best only to

involve ourselves on KalyANa guNAs of Sriman Narayanan alone. Not doing

that is only a suicidal attempt. Hence, Hold firm the Lotus Feet of

Emperumaan of Most Auspicious attributes.

3. He, (as KaNNapiraan) kicked the sakataasuran (the asurA who came in

as a cart wheel to kill the infant KaNNan, as sent by KamsA); He danced

on the huge poisonous 1000 headed kaaLingan snake; He broke the tusk of

Kuvalayaapeetam elephant (which was sent by Kamsan to kill KaNNan); He

fought with the seven oxen and won for the Red Coral lipped, Beautiful

bamboo like shouldered Nappinnai PiraaTTi. With His such most wonderful

Greatest actions, He is the Chief of all jIvAs; He is the Sarve SeshI.

(Master of all). i.e. He did all for saving and protecting His

devotees/servants and established His Sarva sEshithvam.

4. My objective is only to praise ThirukkOttiyoor Emperumaan. My

objective is do good to myself (by getting saved). Hence, will I leave

ThiruvEnkadatthu Emperumaan? (No.). Will I ever ignore the Lotus Feet of

Emperumaan, who, on His own, stands in to protect us and saves us by

removing all our Karmic diseases due to our entanglement with our

sarIram (bodily afflictions)?.

5. Is Emperumaan taking His rest by reclining on AdhisEshan at this

TiruvallikkENi, which is next to Mylai (Mylapore), due to His exertion

of measuring the whole Universe with His Feet? (Does anyone help me as

to why AzhwAr refers to Triplicane for reclining PerumAL?). pAsuram is

this:

“thaaLaal ulagam aLandha vasaivEkol/ vaaLaa kidandharuLum vaay

thiRavaan* - neeLOdham/

vandhalaikkum maamayilai maavallikkENiyaan/ aindhalaivaay naagatthu

aNai./ .

6. On ThiruvananthAzhwAn, Emperumaan of Thirukkudanthai, Thiruve:kaa,

ThiruvevvuLLoor, Thiruvarangam, ThiruppEr, Thiruvanbil, and on

ThiruppaaRkadal,- the Lord of all worlds, SarvEshawaran is reclining

thus on AdhisEshan at all these Divya sthalams- Why? In order to enter

into the heart caves of His devotees only.

7. The Space, the moving flakes of fire, the ever wandering KaaRRu

(air), the big huge mountains, the scorching hot Sun, the cool bright

moon, the loitering clouds, chEthanAs (beings), the eight directions,

etc.. etc.. everything is due to Your Sankalpam alone, EmperumaanE!.

8. SarvEshwaran, the One who is of dark blue Ocean colour, has trapped

the human beings in six religions and entangled them into karma

bhandhams and get samsaaric afflictions (with no chance of escape at all

with the “other” religious doctrines). If this Lord lays back a bit, the

entire Universe, the demi Gods (who are His executioners, kile BrahmA

and Sivan) on whom the yaaghams are perfromed and sacrifies are made and

they are invvoked- all of them will go astray, turn topsy-turvy and

simply vanish. (implies, the greatness of demigods is ALL DUE TO THE

GRACE AND EXISTENCE OF EMPERUMAAN SRIYA: PATHIH SRIMAN NARAYANAN ALONE.)

9. I am calling sincerely ThiruvEnkadatthaan, to be blessed with His

darshan. On this huge Venkatagiri, when the rains waters fall down with

vociferous roars carrying with them, the bright precious gems and stones

with lustre, the elephants get scared of the brightness thinking that it

is all fire sparks; the long deadly pythons run away with fear thinking

that it is the lightning. Such wonderful ThirumalA, I would like to join

with it. (Here AzhwAr says “Thirukkoodal kooda izhaippan” means: To find

out if what we wish will materialise, there is a method. i.e. Keep

drawing concentric circles, one inside the other, and check if it even

in number or odd. If it is odd, it will not materialise. Thus, AzhwAr

tries to see if he is going to join Thirumalai Srinivasan.)

10. “veRpenRu vEnkadam paadinEn * veedakki/

niRkinREn ninRun ninaikkinREn *- kaRkinRa/

nool valaiyil pattirundha noolaatti kELvanaar*/

kaal valaiyil pattirundhEn kaaN.

A lovely pAsuram! I just sang the word “Thirumalai”. Immediately, I am

standing here with the certainty of mOksham for me for sure. I am

enquiring myself as to how a simple one utterance, with suhc a small

deed of telling ThirumalA, I am able to be blessed with SUCH A GREATEST

HUGE pErAnandham/ mOksham. I am able to be blessed by getting myself

caught and be there forever in the trap (net) of the Lotus Feet of Sri

LakshmI Nathan , SarvEshwaran Sriman Narayanan, who is trapped in the

net of Vedas and SaasthrAs, that are apaurushEyam, and proclaim the

Supremacy of Sriman Narayanan.
