Guest guest
Sri: Dear Sri Krishna, It is very difficult to get rid of the addiction. Habit is very difficult to remove. Even if you remove H, A BIT remains. Remove A, BIT remains. Remove B. IT (STILL) remains. But, we need to REMOVE. It is so unfortunate how this coffee has crept into the vaishnava families, intertwined in their day to day lives. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT WE ALL NEED TO GET RID OF THIS HABIT. As ThiruvaLLuvar says: yaathenil yaathenil neenghiyaaan nOthal/ adhanai adhanai vidal meaning: Whatever it may be- if the separation or removal of which, gives us pain (in our heart or the body/mind/intellect), then it is essential that we need to drop the same. Please forgive me, if I sound preaching. It is my thinking loud and telling myself, too. I remember, (during my childhood) a distant relative (of my paternal Grandma), a vaidheeka Srivaishnavar, who had Kudumi, Pancha kaccham, 12 ThirumaN always, was a great lover of Coffee. Whenever, he visted my home, he used to call my paatti and ask "akkA! veLLi tumblerla, oru strong, first decoction coffee thaayEn". (He even jocularly used to recite Swami Desikan's Sristhuthi slOkam "kalyaaNaanaam...kaapi... and stop with kaapi... ) Just a share of my thought. LET US TAKE A PLEDGE TODAY, TO STOP DRINKING COFFEE/TEA, COKE/PEPSI WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT. Drink nice, tasty, milk after offering to the Lord.
