Guest guest
----- Forwarded message from Velukkudi Krishnan <velukkudi ----- Mr. Mani Varadarajan Fm: Velukkudi Krishnan. 7th June 99. While I was going through one of the archives, I saw a question from one of the bhaktas about the connection between Gita and the 4000 prabandhams. Let me share a piece of vyakyana by a great acharya. In the 8th song of Kanninunsirutambu Madhurakavigal says "arul kondadum adiyavar inbura arulinan avvarumaraiyin porul, arul kondu ayiram intamizh padinan arul kandeer ivvulaginil mikkade". This is a stanza which says that the Krupa of Nammalwar is greater that this world. Out of the 4 acharyas viz Nampillai, Nanjiyar, Perivacanpillai, and Nayanar three have given one meaning except Nanjiyar. The common vyakhyana given by three is : arul ..... maraiyin porul - nammalwar sung Tiruvoimozhi as the essence of vedas to the delight of prapannas. arul.....padinaan - With the causeless blessings (nirhetuka krupa) of the Lord, he sung 1000 versers in sweet Tamil. For both these kriyas (verbs) ie arulinaan and padinaan the karta is Nammalwar. However Nanjiyar gives a beautiful interpretation : arul.....maraiyin porul - Gitacharya sung Gita as the essence of vedas to the delight of prapannaas/ seshabhootas. arul.....padinaan - With the causeless blessings (nirhetuka krupa) of Lord Gitacharya, Nammalwar sung 1000 versers as the essence of Gita. Here for the Kriya arulinaan, the Karta is Gitacharya and for the Kriya Paadinaan, the Karta is Nammalwar. This goes to prove that Tiruvoimozhi is the essence of Gita. Gita is made for a select but Tiruvoimozhi if for all. This is why Nayanar in his Acharya Hridayam 189th Sutra says "Mananchey ellaiyil......anrodiya Gita samam" and goes to explain that Tiruvoizmozhi is equal to Gita in 18 aspects. Further, he explains in 5 sutra as to how Tiruvoimozhi is better than Gita. This is big topic on its own. Who else other than Krishnathrushna tatvam can give the essence of Krishna's sayings ? Nammalwar's own verse goes to establish his Paramabhakti for Gitacharya "Anru ther kadiviya peruman kanaikazhal kanbadu enru kol kankale ?" Regards.
