Guest guest
SrI: Shrimate Shri Lakshmi Nrusimha Parabrahmane Namaha: Shrimate Shri Seetha Ramachandra Parabrahmane Namaha: Shrimate Shri Ramanujaya Namaha: Shrimate Nigamantha Maha Desikaya Namaha: Shrimate Shrivan Satagopa Shri Narayana Yateendra Mahadesikaya Namaha: Shri Nammalvar had mentioned about the 'arrival' of Swami Desikan in Thiruviruttham. We did see this in our sixth posting. "naanilam vaaykkoNdu nannIraRamenRu kOthukoNda, vEnilaNY chelvan suvaiththumizh paalai, kadanthaponnE! kaalnilam thOyndhu viNNOr thozhum! kaNNan vekkaavudhu, am poon thEniLanjOlaiyap paaladhu ep paalaikkum sEmaththathE!! In the third and fourth lines of the above paasuram Nammalvar mentions about ThiruthaNkaa (thooppul), where Swami Desika were born. Our Kulapathi addresses Swami Desika as a person from Thoopul who will help every body by giving them all time well being. It makes a wonderful reading when we see that Shri Nammalvar, who had his avataara long before the advent of Swami, had mentioned about the emergence of Swami Desika. In ThiruneduntAndakam, Thirumangai Alvar states: "vilakkoliyai maradakattai thiruttangAvil vekkAvil tirumAlai pAdakEtu valarttadinAl payan petren varuga! enru madakkiliyai kai koopi vanangugirAlE!" Our elders say that the kili (parrot) specified in this refers to Swami Desika. This goes well, as we watch Swami referring to himself as "Just as Appear trained a parrot" . Swami refers to himself as a bird thus: "AkrushtavAnitibavAna anukambamAna; sOtrAnubatta saguni kramata: swayammAm" Swami was regarded for his contribution and immense value to the Acharya Goths. Swami ensured that the efforts and teachings of our AcharyAs were directed in the proper form, ensured the spread of proper jnana and removed the ignorance from one's mind. Shri Thirumangai Alvar has an unique place as he was taught the Thirumandiram by our Lord himself. As our Swami has done an extensive work on the Thirumandiram our elders say that this whole Sri Sookthi is on Swami Desika. In the Thiruppavai paasuram "mAri malai muyanjil..." Andal, prays to Lord Krishna. Elders have stated that: "Koppudaya Siriya singAsanathilirundu" "amarndhu" "moorinimirndu muzhangi purappattu" "sIriya singam" "arivuttru yAm vanda kAriyam ArAyndhu arula" are Andal's mention of Swami Desika. Like "karnE sa yEsha KavitArkika simmanAta:" , our kavitArkika Simham, the lion among poets and logicians rocked all the other doctrines! Lord Sri Ranganatha was so pleased with Swami Desikar's knowledge, his teachings and works that the Lord conferred the title 'vEdAntachArya' Like our PoorvAcharyAs, the main objective of Swami Desika's avatAra was also to protect Bhakti and prapatti. Due to all the above auspicious attributes of Swami Desika our elders state that Andal has also mentioned about Swami! ........To be continued!
