"ArellAm veLLam pAynthodinAlum enthan anubava kudam nirambavillai innum". In the last few days the flood of Oppiliappan pAsurams were translated by Sri MadhavakaNNan. Sri V. Sadagopan has poured his heart in praise of Sri Oppiliappan in a series of postings with adiyEn during August, Sept 1997 (see from Bhakthi archives). Of those one of the pasuram tore my heart into pieces and laid it down at the holy feet of Sri than oppAr illappan. Thirumangai AzhwAr have delivered 30 pasurams on this lord of which this pasuram is special to me. Thirumangai describes the mindset one may have during the moments of baranyAsam or prapatti and also conveys the fruits of it ie.. piravAmai. The following anubavam is also good in the context of why one must avoid annyAdevathA arAdhana. maRROr theyvameNNE Nnunnaiyen manaththuvaiththup , peRREn peRRathuvum piRavaamai yemperumaan, vaRRaa neeLkadalchoo zhilangaiyi raavaNanaich cheRRaay, koRRavanE! thiruviN NagaraanE (6.3.5) thirumangai We understood the Pasuram in the following way because of our AchAryA's anugraha. Perhaps someone else in this group can elaborate more than what is presented as the inner meaning when they get the time. "maRROr theyvameNNE N" The starting line is "I will not worship anyone else". At this point one has already achieved "BahunAm janmanAmante jnanavAm mam prapadyante. Vasudeva sarvam iti sa mahatma su durlabha." Simple meaning: " After many, many births, one understands that Vasudeva is supreme and surrenders to me. Such a mahatma is very rare". This may be one of the inner and the second layer of meaning. At this point the individual is already a mahatma. - this happens only with the grace of Sriman Narayana. I obtained the "piravAmai" or nyAnam of worshipping nArAyanan alone - ....to continue Srimadh Azhagiya singar thiruvadikaLE charanam Sri BoomidEvi thAyAr samEtha Sri Oppiliappan thiruvadikaLE charaNam adiyEn Sampath Rengarajan ____ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
