Dear BhakthAs :

Sri Thirukkudanthai Rengarajan and I usually join together

during the occasion of special celebrations (e-g: Sri AarAvamudhan's

SamprOkshaNa MahOthsavam ) . I thought I will post a few notes

to compliment the special and deeply-felt postings of

Sri Rengarajan .I take the time to thank Sri Rengarajan

for the tremendous amount of time and effort that he is

expending to organize the NammAzhwAr Moksha Uthsavam this year

at Sri RanganAthA Temple on behalf of all BhakthAs

of Lord RanganAthA .

Here is a small krithi on the brahmANDa tattvam

revered by all of us as Sri RanganAthA , who in

the uthsavar form is worshipped as Sri RamachandrA

at Srirangam . The Moolavar (Periya PerumAL) is

recognized as DamOdhara KrishNan with SiRutthAmpu

marks on His waist .

ThOdi Raagam

*************

(Pallavi): Raaghavam BhajE anisam ,

Veera Raaghavam BhajE

(Anupallavi): SaraNAgatha Vathsalam

Saadhu Hrudhaya Vaasinam ( Raaghavam

BhajE , Ranga-Raaghavam BhajE )

(CharaNam ): Chandra PushkaraNi Tatastham

AajAnu Baahum , KodhaNda PaaNinam

Sura Sevitham RavaNAnthakam

Parama Purusham Vasumathi Naatham

( Ranga-Raaghavam BhajE )

(Meaning ): I meditate on Sri Raaghavan of

Srirangam always; I worship Him as Sri

Veeraraaghavan there . His fondeness for

those , who sought refuge at His feet is

legendary .He resides in the heart lotuses

of BhagavathAs . I meditate on that Supreme

Lord with hands reaching up to His knees

(one of the 32 SaamudrikA lakshaNams ).

He takes His residence also on the banks of

Chandra PushkaraNi at Srirangam . He has

the mighty bow of KodhaNdam in His right hand.

He is worshipped by all the DevAs . He is

the destroyer of the adharmikan , RaavaNan

and is the celebrated Lord of Vasumathi Piratti .

(Comments):There are 247 paasurams by eleven AzhwArs as

MangaLAsAsanam to the Lord of Srirangam .NammAzhwAr gives

a clue to the Raama-KrishNa svarUpam of Sri RanganAthan

as Uthsavar and Moolavar in his Kangum pahalum

Paasurangal ( ThiruvAimozhi 7.2.3):

" --unnaik KaaNumAi aruLAi KAAKUTTHA-KANNANE yennum

*************************

thitkodi MathiL soozh ThiruvarangatthA --"

In the ninth paasuram of this same decad , NammAzhwAr

salutes Sri RanganAthan as the Lord of Vasumathi,

Raamachandran ( Lord of Bhumi Piraatti/Nila makaL)

and as KrishNA , the Lord of Nappinnai ( Aay MakaL ).

"-- Nila makaL kELvanE yennum , anRuruvEzhum tazhuvi

**************************

nee koNDa Aai MakaL anbanE yennum Thenn Thiruvarangam

************************

Koil KoNDAnE ---"

These are the words of the Mother of ParAnkusa Naayaki

describing the sad plight of her daughter over separation

from the Lord of Srirangam , who is saluted as

Raama and KrishNa avthAran .

The thoughts of Swami NammAzhwAr are captured partially

in this krithi dedicated to Uthsava moorthy of

Sri RanganAthA worshipped as Sri KasthUri Rangan .

Sri RanganAyaki SamEtha Sri RanganAthAya nama :
