Dear bAgawathAs, vasanthamum vanthathu un vAsam ARiyavO malligaiyum thanthathu un vasam theRiyavO kalaiyAl mAthamum unthan poosaiyE alaipOl mOthuthE enthan AsaiyE ! First layer of meaning: The spring season came only to infer the kasthuri vAsam or the fragrance of kasthuri from your thirumEni in Sriranga kshEthram. The jasmine plants gave those jasmine flowers only to learn the feeling of your sameebyam (arugil irkkum thanmai) and adorn you. Every month the poojA kramams are done in several different style. On seeing all these, "Asai" or desire to see you during your uthsavam, is rocking my mind as similar to huge tidal waves! Chithrai(*): poocchoottum thiru nAL: kOdai thirunAL or summer festival or poocchoottum thiru nAL or flower adorning festival is celebrated in the naLu kAl mandapam facing south with Sri namperumAL being adorned excessively with flowers during the peak of the summer. pAnakam is offered as a special prasadham. From 6th day onwards Sri namperumAL goes to durai mandapam instead of nAlu kAl mandapam. "veenai" is played on HIS return to the garba gruham. is ie., in chitthirai. This is done for bagawath preethi and as well to cool off the excessive and scorching heat during this month. This festival is celebrated for thAyAr in HER own sannithi as well. ChithrA pournami: Sri namperumAL visits Sri AmmA maNdapam and touches the rim of kAuveri while Sri gajEndra mOksham is celebrated with the presence of temple elephant. After pooja is performed on the banks of kauveri Lord returns to the temple via mandapam without any vAdhyam being played to symbolise that Lord is in constant chinthana and "mownam" about that episode and the "vatham" of the crocodile to save Sri gajEndran. However, some people wanted to know about these festivals anyway as it is going to be useful to know them. The details of these other major festivals will be posted in the next 2 to 3 days and then the rest of the postings after that will cover thiru adhyayanam mainly. ____ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
