Guest guest
SwAmi VedAnta Desika's "NaichyAnusanthAnam" and "SAtvika AhamkAram" (as gleaned from his StOtras) Part 4. SAtvika AhamkAram ============================================================ Dear Bhagavatas Your kind attention is invited to the Introduction to this Part posted on 21st November 99 to appreciate this posting better and in the proper perspective. (Anbil Ramaswamy) ============================================================ SAtvika AhamkAram 4.09: "HERE COMES THE BENEVOLENT TORNADO!" =============================================================viswa Anugraha mAtharam vyathishjath svarga ApavarghaAm sudhA - sadhreechim ithi VenkaTEswara kavir bhakthyA dhayAm asthutha / padhyAnAm iha yadh vidhEya bhagavath sankalpa kalpa dhrumAth jhanjhA mArutha dhootha chootha nayatha: sAmpAthikO ayam krama: // (DayA Sathakam SlOkam 107) Meaning "DayA DEvi is like the sweetest nectar (sudhA sadriseem) She is the one dearest to all her children in the Universe whomshe alwyas loves and blesses uncondionally. (viswa anugraha mAtharam) Like a mother who holds several gifts to present to her children according to their taste and predilections, DayA Devi holds Svargam, Moksham and many other fruits for distribution according to our wishes. (vyathishjath svarga ApavarghaAm) TiruvEnkaTamuDaiyAn's "Sankalpam" is like the divine "Kalpaka vriksham" whose branches are ever ready to yield countless ripe fruits. (yadh vidhEya bhagavath sankalpa kalpa dhrumAth) When the gales of "KaruNa" of DayA Devi lashes through, the fruits of the tree of "Bhagavad Sankalpam" fall (jhanjhA mArutha dhootha chootha nayatha:) not one by one but in clusters- all at the same time. (sAmpAthikO ayam krama:) It is the compassion filled Sankalpam of Lord Srinivasa that has blossomed into this StOtram through ME by dint of my unequalled devotion to His compassion. (VenkaTEswara kavir bhakthyA dhayAm asthutha) If you wish to enjoy the abundant crop of fruits- Come. Read this. You will get whatever you want!" Comment: Can a tornado ever be benevolent? "Yes" says SwAmi. When DayA DEvi's blessings showers, it pours and pours and pours- Not singly, but in never ending clusters and bunches of benefits. SwAmi commences this StOtra with the words "PrapadhyE" which means "I surrender" He concludes it with the word "Kshamayathi" meaning "forgives" The message is that the Lord out of His compassion non-pareil, excuses the faults of SaraNAgathas and showers benevolence abundantly like the trees yielding fruits as described above. ============================================================ To Continue: Satvika AhamkAram 4. 10 OH!
