Have you noticed the Padhuka sloka of yesterday (Vaikunda Ekadasi - 19/12)

on the padhuka home page ? It was sloka 66, which describes "Saranagathy

Thatvam". I am thrilled after seeing this matching sloka on Vaikunda Ekadasi

day. What a great sowlabyam of our Emperuman, who automatically made this

relevent sloka available on the net for us on this special day. Just thought

of sharing this with all you.

Meaning

Meaning (translated by Sri. U.Ve. V.N. Vedanta Desikan)

 

Oh Golden Paaduka of Ranganatha! May we always meditate on You at

Srirangam as the Champion of the Prapanna category of people, the fit

deity to occupy the head of the Veda-damsel, and the much-beloved

one of the Lord.

 

Special Notes from Sri. U.Ve. V. Sadagopan

 

1) UtthamUr Swamy's anubhavam: Here Swami Desikan reveals what

he desires on this earth , prior to obtianing the boon of Moksham .

He

says: " Oh Ranganaatha Paadhukas excelling in leading the group of

prapannAs , who have taken refuge at the Lord's sacrd feet ! Oh

PaadhukhAs adorning the crowns of Upanishads ! Oh PaadhukhAs

celebrated by BhagavAn Himself ! Please bless me to worship You on

this earth itself at the sacred city of Srirangam .

 

2) Srimadh Andavan anubhavam :Oh PaadhukE ! From Your position in

Sri Ranga VimAnam , You bless huge assemblies of people to perform

SaraNAgathi and move them onward to Parama Padham . I meditate on

You of such vaibhavam at Your sthAnam in Sri Ranga VimAnam .

 

3) Here Swami Desikan addresses the Lord's Paadhukhais as

"TapanIya PaadhukhE " ( Noble Padhukhais made of the noble metal,

Gold). ).These noble Paadhukhais are well known for their SvabhAvam

to guide the assembly of those SaraNAgathAs , who have placed their

entire trust in Sri RanganAthA to Paramapadham without fail .This

seelam (noble conduct ) is that of AchAryAs and Swami NammAzhwAr

( Sri RanganAtha PaadhukhAs ) is the Prapanna santhAna Jana

Kootasthar . Swami Desikan salutes Swami NammAzhwAr here with the

words: " MahanIyam thvAm adhirangam upAsmahE " ( adiyEn salutes

You , the worshipful One ,right here at Your aasthAnam at Srirangam)

Swami Desikan states further that the PaadhukhAs are decorating the

head area of the VedAs , where their hairline is parted (Seemantha

Padham ) . From that noble Seemantha Padham , the PaddhukhAs

send the Prapanna janAs to the Lord's Parama Padham...V.S
