Guest guest
Dear Bhagavathas, I am interested in knowing information about the pastimes of Lord Narasimha. I would also like to to magazines which deal with the subject matter and visit relevant websites. I recently bought a cassette of Narasimha sahasranamam. I would like to know where it is from and if there is a softcopy that some one can forward to me. I thank you for your efforts and express ny humble gratitude. With warm regards Rajaram V. He has been waiting now since a long, long time. So much so, that they are all missing Him in his abode in SriVaikuntam. The riverside on which Nrismhan sported to keep himself occupied dried up long time ago. But if you are a devotee of Nrisimhan you can certainly perceive Him there even today exactly as Swami Desikan perceived him seven centuries ago: bandhumakhilasya jantOhO bandhura paryanka bandha ramaNeeyam vishama vilOchana meeDE vegavati pulina kEli narasimham II ("kAmAsikAshtakam") Why don't you go to Kancheepuram and see for yourself? dAsan, Sampathkumaran _______ Get your free @ address at

If you want an English translation of the "kAmAsikAshtakam" I think several erudite members of the bhakti-list have posted portions or whole of it in the past and they should be available in the archives. Sri.Sadagopan and Sri.Muralidhar Rangaswamy come to adiyen's mind readily, though there might be many other scholars too. Guest guest
Sri: Dearest all, There is one place near GunToor, by name "ma~ngaLagiri", where up the hill there is Lord Narasimha temple. I was there when I was 11 years old. At this hill, when one offers "paanakam" (kind of drink for Narasimhan), whatever may be the size of container, only half He takes in, beyond which it spills out of His pavaLA vaay... If it is a small tumbler, half He takes in. If it is a huge pot, again He takes in half of the pot.. After all Lord Narasimhan is UNIQUE.. Regards Narayana Narayana (Sorry.. Narasimha, Narasimha..) ----Original Message Follows---- "Mohan Sagar" <msagar bhakti Re: Information about Narasimha Wed, 29 Dec 1999 21:54:43 -0700 ____ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

While the famous story of His saving Prahladan is awe-inspiring, what is equally inspiring are the miraculous stories surrounding His archarUpam at various temples throughout South India. You have probably received several e-mails already regarding SingapirAn's vaibhavam from some of the more erudite members of this forum. But, I thought you may find it interesting that in addition to His divya dEsham at Thiruvellakai, there are several other temples of note where the greatness of this magnificent rUpam of the Lord can be known. Most well known among these are two other divya dEshams, Thirukadigai (Sholingur), near Chennai, and Ahobilam. The other temples of note that I know about are all abhimAna sthalams in the neighboring state of Andhra Pradesh. Interestingly, SingapirAn seems to hold a special place among the SriVaishnavas who settled in Andhra, for there are several sacred temples dedicated to Him on hilltops throughout the state. Most famous among these are Simhachalam (near Wyzag), Yadagirigutta (near Hyderabad) and Mangalagiri (near Vijayawada). All three of these temples are run with same orthodoxy and adherence to SriVaishnava traditions as the divya dEshams in Tamil Nadu. One other temple, in the town of Mattapalli, has become very famous because the LakshmiNarasimhan here often receives kainkaryam from the noted scholar of Chennai, Mukkur LakshmiNarasimha Tatachariar. Information on the first two temples listed above can be found in: www.andhratoday.com/religion You may also wish to read an article that some fellow bhAgavathas and I wrote about Yadagirigutta, which can be found in www.srivaishnava.org adiyEn, Mohan

Both are on the banks of the River Krishna. One is "Wadapalli" and the other is "VedAdri". adiyen has worshipped the "nrisimhan" at Wadapalli. It is an "adhbhutha" kshetram. Here the Lord is seen to actually "breathe" if you closely watch the "villakku" or lamp inside the sanctum-santorum flickering gently and regularly in response to the Lord's inhaling and exhaling! When one worships here one gets the feeling of being enveloped by Vedic sound ... a sort of stereo-phonic "surround" effect! (My subjective experience of course, but you try it yourself, if you want!). No surprise!! When the Lord breathes what do you expect? "nigama-nisvAsitam"! Pure Vedic sound! adiyen will soon visit "vEdAdri" by His Grace. dAsan, Sampathkumaran Talk to your friends online with Messenger. http://messenger. In fact, my great grandfather, Sri Vinjamuri Bhavanachariar provided the funds for repairing and re-building the steps leading to the ancient temple. I have never visited this sannidhi, but my parents had the opportunity to do so during their most recent visit to India. It is said that receiving this pAnakam prasadam is a great blessing, for it has been known to cure illnesses. Perhaps, one of the other bhAgavathas hailing from Andhra, such as Sri Vinjamuri Mahavishnu, or my relation and good friend, Sri Sarangapani Kidambi, can elaborate further on the temple and its sthala purAnam. adiyEn, Mohan
Guest guest
Dear Bhagavatas You would have heard of the name of "Bidar", one of the "ceded Districts". The correct name, we are told, is "Mohammadabad Beedhar". There is a cave in this place filled with water forever. If you wade through the chest deep waters, deep into the cave for quite a distance, you can reach a niche on one of the side walls wherein you can see the vigraham of Lord Narasimha. Devotees from all over India visit this place to offer their prayers to this Narasimha who is considered by the locals as "VaraprasAdhi" I have visited this shrine long ago during one of my official tours. The interesting fact here is that nobody knows wherefrom the water gushes forth. The quantum of water never increases or decreases but remains constantly at the level of chest deep. Can anyone in the list, hailing from there throw more light on this? Dasoham Anbil Ramaswamy
