Dear Chandrashekaran and respected Vaisnavas,

In regard to the below question about cyclical karma and the Lords role,

there is a relevant story in the Bhagavat Purana regarding King Nirga.

King Nirga was the most pious King who was famous for his generosity,

specifically in gifts of cows to the Brahmanas in such large numbers that

defy our present day sense of space and what the Bhumi can bare.

In any case on one occasion while giving out a large number of cows to

various Brahmanas, one cow offered to one Brahmana happened to wander into

the group of another Brahmana an argument ensued regarding who was the

rightful owner.

By no fault of his own, King Nirga was accused of giving away in charity that

which was already the property of another Brahmana. The king offered to

resolve the issue by offering 10,000 cows for the one cow to the offended

Brahmana, but the Brahmana would not accept and cursed the King to take birth

as a lizard.

Later on when Sri Krishna's grand children were playing, they saw a lizard in

a well (different story in from ball retrieved by Dronacharya in MB) they

asked Krishna to help get it out. Krishna pulled the lizard from the well,

whereupon the King regained his spiritual form and was instructed that even

the most pious soul is forced to transmigrate in the samsara due to even the

slightest error.

Sri Krishna states in Srimad Bhagavad Gita, 18.65

"sarva dharman prityajya mam ekam saranam vraja aham tvam sarva papebhyo

moksayisyami yami ma sucah"

Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me. I shall deliver

you from all sinful reaction. Do not fear.

So the real path to moksa freedom is by making all our offerings to the Lord

and letting Him who is the controller of Karma remove our karmic shackles,

which are most complex due to limitless actions and reactions from the past.

In regard to Krishna being shot in the heal as somehow a reaction for

shooting Vali in Rama lila.

Again in Srimad BG. 7.13 & 14 Krishna asserts His being above (the karma

controlling) modes of nature with His remedy to cross beyond the karma

influence.

When Krishna appeared He was often acting as an ordinary man which was most

bewildering to His non Bhaktas. He gracefully accepted the curse of Gandhari

that His whole dynasty of the Yadhus would be finished as her one hundred

sons all died and Gandhari knowing Krishna to be God said you are ultimately

to blame for their death. Krishna agreed but added that they had to die to

establish dharma. And the Yadhus also had to die as they had become arrogant

of their power and Krishna's Lila was coming to a close.

So Krishna / Rama is never under the laws of karma, but His being the

controllers of karma He can appear to act within its limits at the same time

He is always the Controller of karma and beyond it. That is His

transcendental Lila and instruction for us. If we are to free ourselves from

the endless karmic cycle we must take shelter of Sri Rama / Sri Krishna Whom

is eternal free.

This Lila was from my memory so there might be some discrepancy from the

original.

Excuse me for barging in, I liked the topic and just thought this might be of

some interest to all your good pious selves.

das anudasa,

Brahma

>>This whole game

is cause and effect phenomenon. The only way to get out of this

cycle is to avoid commiting sins as much as possible to our

knowledge in the present life term. The kind of story you have

written is also found in Mahabharath where Lord Krishna is

getting killed by a hunter(who actually was Vali in Ramayana).

Hence,to my knowledge every living Being, including the Lord has

to undergo this cycle.

Thanks for taking time to read my expalanation,

If there is any mistake, please let me know, that I can correct it
