Report on NAMA event at adiyEn's kutil

Dearest Sisters and Brothers,

 

We had an excellent "Full Day" NAMA event on last Sunday on July the 23rd at

adiyEn's kutil, celebrating for AndAL Thirunakshathram, PeriyAzhwAr's,

NathamunigaL and above all, asmadh AchAryan Srimad Andavan Sri Gopala Desika

Mahadesikan's 80th TN celebrations (being celebrated every month on RohiNi

Thirunakshathram at Srirangam and in other Divya Desams/sishyas' places, the

grand finale of which is going to be held on March 31, 2001 at Srirangam).

adiyEn wished to celebrate this month RohiNi TN at adiyEn's kutil.

 

I would like to share my aanandham at the grand success of this

event that was made possible only due to AchAryan's anugraham, Bhagawath

kurpai and the presence of Bhagawathas like Sri Hari.

 

About 35 Srivaishnavas assembled and it startef off at 10.00 A.M with

recitation of Pancha sookhthams and Shaanthi Panchakam.

 

Sri Hari graced the occasion with his thundering elctrifying speech on

Beauty and essence of of Vedhartha Sangraham (to start off the event slowly

(meLLa) with "Hari's pEraravam).. It was GREAT is a gross understatement. He

should be titled "Simhapuri Vaak amrutha

varshI..". (until he goes to speak in the west.. then the title could

perhaps be modified).

 

Then the group had a beautiful recitation of Thiruppallaandu,

ThiruppaLLiyezhucchi, Thiruppavai, Amalandhipiraan, and

KaNNinunchiRutthaambhu and Adaikkalapaathu , followed by

Thiruvaaraadhanam and SaaRRumuRais of both kalais.

 

Brindha and I could get immense satisfaction from serving the Bhagawathas

the prasadham.. (suddham bhAgawathAsyannam)..

 

After Lunch, we had melliflous rendering of Songs by Devotees (Smt

Vijayalakshmi Hari, Smt Geetha Sridharan, Smt Archana Sriram, Smt Rama

Madhusoodhanan, Chi Sri Vaagheesh Madhsoodhanan (on Violin), Chi

Vijaisrinivas, Smt KaNNan and others)- Here I need to mention about Smt

Vijayalakshmi's great rendering of Raghuveera Gadhyam, vaNNa maadangaL,

vadavaraiyai, etc.. . It was simply divine. Smt Geetha Sridharan sang very

shrill, highly melodious as usual, while Smt Kannan sang her grand mother's

own composition so gracefully.

 

Smt Vijayalkahmi also sang a sanskrit song on Anandha Bhairavi, (compsoed by

Sri Hari, the previous night), on Sri Narayana Yatheendhra Mahadesikan

(Srimad Azhagiya Singar- 45th Pattam- Sri Hari's AchAryan). There was a

thunderous appaluse for this young couple.

 

Theer was also a Swamy Desikan sloka recitation for "OronRu thaanE

amaiyaadhO?"(started by Sri C Seshadri in Madras)- a competition for

children- even any one sloka minimum will fetch a certificate

from Srimad Poundarikapuram Anadavan)- All children partcipated and recited

few slokas. Chi Vagheesh recited Sri Hayagriva sthOthram, while Chi

Vijaisrinivas recited Garuda dhaNdakam. Chi Govind recited Gopala vimsathy.

Children's involvement is greatly appreciated.

 

I had invited one sishya from each lineage to speak.

 

Sri Anand (Desika sathakam fame- Smt Praveena's husband), a sishya of

Ahobila Mutt- spoke very beautifully on "maRRumOr Deivam uNdO?- quoting from

AzhwAr pAsurams. He mentioned "If one realizes the Parathvam as Sriman

Narayanan- the mind is full of knwoledge (mathi niRaindha-). Else, it is all

Zero knowledge..mathi yillaa maanidargaL..)".

 

Sri Vedantham Ayyangar, a sishya of Srimad Andavan- Periyashramam- spoke on

"Naatha yaamuna madhyamaam. It was very methodical, clear and concise. His

delivery is always cherished enjoyed by us.

 

Chi Vijai Srinivas read an English article on "Thooppul PillaiyE PiLLai"

(prepared by Sri Mani Varadarajan, USA)

 

Sishya of Sri Rangapriya swami- Sri Shrinath spoke on "Sri Rangan's priyan-

also Priyan of Sri Poundarikapuram Ashramam", narrating emotinally about the

greatness and sowlabhyam of his AchAryan and his connection with Srimad

Poundarikapuram ANdavan.

 

During the break, Sri Hari again blessed us with his yet another roaring

speech, on "uyarvaRa uyar nalam udaiyavan".

 

We recited Godha sthuthi, VaaraNamaayiram and SenniyOngu to fondly pay our

obeisance to GodhA and her father- Vishnu chitthar.

 

adiyEn spoke on asmadh AchAryan- and the grteatness of our Sriya: Pathi

Sriman Narayanan's upankaram on us.. adiyEn briefly touched upon Swamy

Desikan's "oru kaimmaaRu- Maayanum kaaNagillaan" and paid my pbeisance to

the Lotus Feet of asmadha AchAryan and of all PoorvaAchAryAs.

 

The event ended at 6 p.m with the grand recitation of Sri Vishnu

sahasranamam and sweet mangaLam song by Smt Hari. Our humble thanks to each

one of the participants for having attended and graced the function.
