Guest guest
Thanks to Sri. Sadagopan for the wonderful translations of Sri Vedantha Desikar's Padhuka Sahasram. Recently adiyEn came across the following which adiyEn thought had some interesting relevence. Some of our poorvAchAryA's in their vyAkyAnams of thiruppANAzhvAr's amalanAthipirAn, have mentioned the following. The first three letters of the first three stanzas in amalanAthipirAn are a, u and m. Thus, he introduced the pramANaSAram of aum (OM) in the beginning. And the the first letters of stanzas 5, 6 and 7 are pa, thu and kai. This, then refers to the pramEyaSAram which is emperumAn's pAdhukA. The beginning letter of the 4th stanza is sa, which connects the pramANam with the pramEyam - perhaps, the learned members of this list can expand on that. The interesting point is that amalanAthipirAn is the only thivyaprabantham for which Swami Desikan has written a vyAkyAnam - called 'munivAhanabOkam'. I wonder if thiruppANAzhvAr was the inspiration to his Padhuka Sahasram. adiyEn recently received vyAkyAnams for amalanAthipirAn, and am working on understanding it. Please let adiyEn know if the translations of this wonderful work have already been posted in this list, or should adiyEn make some feeble attempt at translating and posting. mathurakavi thAsan T.C.A. Guest guest
Sri: SrImate GopAla Desika Mahadesikaya namaha Dear Sri Venkatesan: Would you please post these Vakhyanams for Amlanathipiran? You have written about the first 3 pAsurams starting with 'a, u, ma' and leaving the next one, the following three start with 'pa, du, ka'. This is mentioned by Sri Mukkur LakshmiNarasinhachariar in his book "kuraiyonRum illai"(second volume). In addition to this Sri LakshmiNarasimhachariar states that "Thirumanthirartham, Dwayamanthirartham, Charamaslokartham" can be found in these 10 pAsurams. I would like to know about it. I do not remember reading about this in the Bhakti list. I could not find it in the archives. adiyen dAsan Lakshmanan ______________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
Guest guest
Thanks to Sri. Gopaul Laskhmanan for checking the archives. Guess I should have thought of that myself. With the blessings of the pEravai, I have begun the task of translating the vyAkyAnams for amalanAthipirAn. Any and all errors in these translations are mine alone. I beg the forgiveness of our poorvAchAryAs and the learned members of this list, beforehand, for making them. Kindly tolerate adiyEn's amateurish efforts and please correct them as you see them. In the next mail, I will post the thaniyans for amalanAthipirAn and their meaning. Subsequent to that, I would like to periodically post the vyAkyAnams for one pAsuram at a time. adiyEn, mathurakavi thAsan T.C.A. Srimans Murali Rangaswamy , Achutharaman and adiyEn have been performing a Kaikmaryam by writing about Sri RanganAtha Paadhuka Shasram , one slokam per day , since September 1999 , the 731st Birthday of Swamy Desikan .These are elaborations on the English monograph of Dr.V.N.VedAntha Desikan on this Sri Sookthi released earlier. We are now at the stage of 432nd slOkam of this Sri Sookthi containing 1,008 slOkams extolling the greatness of the dhivya MaNi Paadhukais of Lord RanganAtha . An excellent web site has been set up by Sri Achutharaman and the slOkam for the day has been highlighted there along with the summary on all previous slOkams todate. Please visit this site and join in the adoration of Lord RanganAthA at His own temple in Pomona, NY as well as at Srirangam .
