Dates for Sri HayagrIva Jayanthi & Yajur UpAkarma

Dear BhakthAs:

 

The avathAra dinam of BhagavAn HayagrIvan

is AavaNi SraVaNam .That date on the English

calendar this year is September 10 .

 

Aadi SravaNam and PourNami falls on August 14.

That is the day of Rg UpAkarmA.Hence , it can not be

the day for celebrating Sri HayagrIva Jayanthi since

it is still the month of Aadi .

 

August 14 is the Rg UpAkarmA day in India and here .

August 15 is the Joint Yajur UpAkarmA and

Gaayathri Japam day in India. The KaamOkArshIth

Japam followed by Gaayathri Japam and Nava KhANDa

Rishi TarpaNam for this year alone has to be done

on August 15 due to the admixture of PourNami

and Prathamai Thithi under 12 Naazhikai .It has

been recommended by Sri Matam that the Japam

on the UpAkarmA day in India be started before 8 AM.

 

With the time differences that we have between

USA and India , it has become clear to me that

Rg-Yajur UpAkarmA is on Aug 14 and Gayathri Japam

is on Aug 15. I plan to get a confirmation of

this sequence on Saturday (Aug 12) from Srimath

Azhagiya Singar during the Q&A period of

His Tele-UpanyAsam. I will post His recommendation

on the net for general use.

Dear Shri Sadagopan & Bhakti Group members:

 

I thought that Hayagreeva Jayanti coincides with Avani-Avittam (i.e. one day

prior to Avani-Avittam). The Jayanthis are generally determined on the

basis of lunar calendar (ChandrAyana). Mani Varadarajan had posted an

article in connection with Rama Navami. The same thing may apply here too.

In view of this do you still think that Hayagreeva Jayanti falls on Sept.

10. We are planning to celebrate it on Aug. 14. Will you also kindly

clarify this from HH Azhagiya Singhar. Thanks.
