Srimath Azhagiya Singar ThiruvadigaLE SaraNam

Dear BhakthAs:

Madhura Kavi AzhwAr extolls further

the greatness of Swamy NammAzhwAr in his

eighth paasuram:

" aruL koNDAdum adiyavar inpuRa

aruLinAn avvarumaRayin poruL

aruL kondu aayiram inn tamizh pAdinAn

aruL kandIr ivvulahinil mikkathE"

Srimath Azhagiya Singar's AruL MozhikaL

****************************************

**In this paasuram , Madhura Kavi celebrates

the DayA guNam (aruL) of Swamy NammAzhwAr and proves

that the dayA gunam of Swamy NammazhwAr is

greater than that of Bhagavaan Himself. This

paasuram is an elaboration of the unqueness

of the Krupai(aruL) of Swamy NammazhwAr that

led to the creation of thousand paasurams

as our kula dhanam in Sweet Tamil

( aruL koNDu aayiram inn Tamizh paadinAn ).

**PerumAL's krupai contrasted with AzhwAr's

PerumAl's krupai is prasiddham (well known).

It could not however be visualized by us.

On the other hand , Swamy NammazhwAr's

Krupai is very visible . One can experience it

in his ThiruvAimozhi (ThoNdarkku amuthuNNa

sonna Tamizh Maalai ). Hence Swamy NammAzhwAr's

Krupai is greater than that of PerumAL.

** What is the LakshaNam of the Adiyavars ?

They are Swamy NammAzhwAr's aruL koNDAdum

adiyavars(BhagavathAs). They recognize that

of all the kalyANa guNAs of the Lord , the DayA

guNam is the loftiest one (uthkrushtam).

Our Lord is a Sarvaj~nan .Hence , He does know all of

our apachArams (transgressions) and that requires

Him to punish us. However , His dayA guNam intervenes

and makes Him overlook the punishment. Other GuNams

"adikka " upayOgam; Dayai is "aNaikka " upayOgam .

The Jn~Ana sakthi of the Lord makes Him a

dhaNdadharan ( DhaNDanai koduppavan ); His

DayA sakthi prevents Him however form executing

that punishment. The " aruL koNDAdum adiyavar"

celebrate that Dayaa guNam of the Lord as they

learned from Swamy NammAzhwAr's upadEsam

housed in ThiruvAimozhi in "Inn Tamizh".

Swamy NammAzhwAr's compassion is the succor

for these these BhagavathAs or Sesha BhUthars

to acquire the needed Jn~Anam to perform

SaraNAgathi at the lotus feet of the Lord and

thereby earn "Bhagavath PrApthi".Jn~Anam is an

essential prerequisite before realizing Bhagavath

PrApthi. That is where Swamy NammAzhwAr's role

is indispensable to acquire that Jn~Anam.

** Swamy ALavandhAr's salutaions in SthOthra rathnam

In this Sri Sookthi , Swamy AlaVandhaar saluted

Sri ParAsara Maharishi , the author of

Sri VishNu PurANam first(*) and Swamy NammAzhwAr next(**).

Sri ParAsarar was saluted first for blessing

us with Tatthva NirNayam , which was saluted by

Swamy Desikan later as Chittha Ranjitham.

Why did AlavandhAr salute Sage ParAsara First ?

There are many people , who can not understand

the difficult (Murattu) language of Sanskrit and

benefit from the Tatthva NirNayam passages in

Sri VishNu PurANam written in Sanskrit.

Swamy NammAzhwAr helped to overcome this problem

out of His immeasurable Krupai and composed ThiruvAimozhi

in sweet Tamizh, so that every one can understand

these Tattvams and shed their ajn~Anam , the enemy

of Moksham (Moksha VirOdhi).

The blessings of generating Jn~Anam

about the imperishable nature of

AathmA as opposed to perishable Sariram ,

generating Jn~anam about BhagavAn as the

one anly BhOgya vasthu and the importance of

Bhagavath-Bhaagavatha Kaimkaryam are from

Swamy NammAzhwAr's aruLiccheyalkaL

for our upliftment . Once Jn~Anam is acquired

and ajn~Anam is driven aeway ,then the performance of

SaraNAgathy is easy and that results in

Bhagavath PrApthi. With this Jn~Anam,

people reach the other side of Tamas (Tamasa: Paaram),

which is Sri Vaikuntam and perform nithya Kaimkaryam

to Sriya: Pathi there .Swamy NammAzhwAr's anugraham

thru ThiruvAimozhi is that Tatthva Jn~Anam in

easily understandable sweet Tamizh. In this context ,

Swamy Desikan saluted Swamy NammAzhwAr's krupai

appropriately in his UpakAra Sangraham (***).
