Dear bhAgavathAs,

 

SrI rAmAnujA Mission, Inc., of Srirangam Srimad Andavan Periyashramam

and Jeeyar Educational Trust USA, Inc.(JET USA) of SrI SrI SrI

Tridandi SrIman nArAyANa rAmAnuja chinna jIyar svAmi are pleased to

announce the celebration of the thirunakshattirams of svAmi Sri vEdAnta

dEsikan (1268 - 1369) and svAmi Sri maNavALa mAmunigaL (1371 - 1443)

on October 28th and 29th 2000 at SrI. venkatEsvara svAmi temple,

Aurora, IL.

 

HH Sri Rangaramanuja Maha Desikan (Sri Mushnam Andavan) and

HH SrI SrI SrI Tridandi SrIman nArAyANa rAmAnuja chinna jIyar svAmi

have blessed us all to proceed with the function.

 

This joint celebration is organized with the following objectives in

mind:

 

1.To seek the blessings of our great AchAryAs by celebrating their

thirunakshattirams and following their teachings.

2.To promote unity among people wanting to follow the vEdic tradition

having different AchArya lineage (paramparai) with focus on the common

theme - our divine lineage to Sri Ramanuja (emperumAnAr).

3.To create interest and provide support for families interested in

following the vEdic sampradAyam

 

With the above three objectives in mind, the agenda is tailored to

have the following key items:

 

1.Focus on the teachings of our AchAryAs and their humility and

lifestyle. There are 4 short plays - on SrIman nAthamuni, svAmi

Sri Ramanuja (emperumAnAr), svAmi Sri vEdAnta dEsikan and

svAmi Sri maNavALa mAmuni - focusing on their teachings

 

2.Talks on the above AchAryAs will follow the plays with focus on

what their teachings are and how they are applicable to us

 

3.Open panel discussions on (i) relevance of temples and their role

in the current age (ii) how to follow our sampradAyam with

appropriate compromises in this country

 

4.Songs/dances by members of our sampradAyam focusing on perumAL/AchAryA

vaibhavams - This was included to promote an interest in the cultural

aspects of our sampradAyam that are essential in developing interest

among our youngsters.

 

5.Temple celebrations (utsavams) with recitation of divya prabhandham,

vEda pArAyaNam and recitation of stOtra pAdam

 

We extend our humble invitation to each and every bhagavatha living

in this country to attend this celebration - the first of its kind in

the United States.

October 8th is the thirunakshattiram of svAmi srI

vEdAnta dEsikan (purattAsi thiruvONam)

November 1st is svAmi srI maNavALa mAmuni's thirunakshattiram

(aippasi mUlam).

Also around October 28th, we have the following key thirunkashatirams -

November 4,5,6 - poygai, bUtham, pEy AzhvAr thirunakkshattirams

Nov 4th - svAmi srI piLLai lOkAchAriAr

October 26th - dIpAvaLi

 

This period is a very auspicious period for

all of us with so many AzhvAr/AchArya thirunakshattirams

make this successful - We request as many people to volunteer as
