Guest guest
26.9.2000 Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha! Emberumanaar Thiruvadigale Saranam! Jeeyar Thiruvadigale Saranam! I am overwhlmed by the volume of correspondence and articles appearing in this bhakti list. My knowledge about Sanskrit is also NIL but somehow I have been chanting Vishnu Sahasra Naamam daily. I seek the forgiveness of Lord Narayana for chanting this without knowing the detailed meaning even though I know the gist of it. I want to learn Sanskrit through corespondence so that I can better understand our culture. Can anybody help me in this regard. Also, I would like to have a copy of Sri Suktam Purusha Suktama etc in Sanskrit. Incidentally, I can read Sanskrit even though I do not know the meanings of it. I had learned Hindi when I was 9 years old and that helped me to update knowledge about Sanskrit alphabets. I am really proud to be associated with this group. I learn lot. Due to time factor, many a time I am not able to correspond in this group. Kindly excuse me for that. Some individual members have sent me directly appreciation messages for some of my earlier writings. I will reply to them in due course. I appeal to them through this column to bear with me. Guest guest
Hi: You have asked 2 questions, and I'll try and answer them... 1. Learning Sanskrit. Recently I came acorss a Banglore based organization that teaches SPOKEN SANSKRIT. More information is available at http://www.samskrita-bharati.org/. They seem to have classes all over the world. I am in the process of getting more information about this school. A couple of folks I spoke to in Banglore think very highly of this Sanskrit school. 2. Sanskrit books on the Sukthams. I would strongly recommend that you learn the Sukthams from a Guru. They have to be recited in a specific manner -- more like singing in a measured way with ups and down. The best books (with the correct markings for singing the ups and down) can be found at the Ramakrishna Mutt book stores in any town. The books published by LIFCO are really no good. Hope this helps. --- MURALIDHARAN IYENGAR <MURALI38 wrote: > 26.9.2000 > > Srimathe Ramanujaya Namaha! > Emberumanaar Thiruvadigale Saranam! > Jeeyar Thiruvadigale Saranam! > > I am overwhlmed by the volume of correspondence and > articles appearing in > this bhakti list.
