Guest guest
I am a new member of your bhakti-list My body was born in the family of Smartha Kanara Saraswat brahmins on April 22. 1955. Through childhood I was fed a diet of Advaita Vedanta as we had study groups speaking on the Bhagavad Gita in my house every week. An enthusiastic student, I quickly read and absorbed over the years most commentaries and texts on the Advaita philosophy. Yet I was not fulfilled. By the Grace of Narayana in 1986, I was initiated by a saintly person into Vaishnavism and the Bhakti tradition. I believe in 15 days I experienced more than I had in the previous 30 years. Since then, as my personal sadhana, I have been speaking on the Bhagavad Gita in the Vaishnav tradition. While I am familiar with the philosophy of the Sri Ramanujacharya and his followers, I wish to understand his teachings in depth. My parents named me Shantanu Nagarkatti; my Guru named me SriGovinda Das. My profession is that of a surgeon; I believe that Narayan does not want me to restrict my efforts (towards being an instrument of healing) to the body alone. I seek your grace and blessings.
