Guest guest
Srimad Venkata Lakshmana Yativaraya namah. Sri rukmiNI sameta pArthasArathi swAminE namah. Dear Sriman Parthasarathy swamin, namo narayana. Nice to hear from you. Infact, Kanchgipuram and Melkote are as imp as Thirumalai and Thiruvarangam for us. However, to the best of my knowledge, swayam vyakta kshEtras are only 8. There is a purANa SlOkam which lists the ashta swayam vyakta kshetras, which I do not remember. What you have seen in Srirangam temple must be the union of two sets - one consisting of 8 swayam vyakta kshetras and the other comprising the four formemost Srivaiashnava temples (koil, thirumalai, PerumAL koil, ThirunArAyaNapuram) - which makes the total 10 as Thirumalai and Srirangam are common elements. A few people place ThirunIrmalai among ashta swayam vyakta kshetras in lieu of vAnamAmalai. Regarding sAlagramam, majority opinion is that it is Muktinath in Nepal, birthplace of river gandakI. A few people opine that it is dAmOdarkund, whihc is also in Nepal. dAsAnudAsan Vinjamuri Srimahavishnu On Wed, 22 Nov 2000 18:09:34 +0530 (IST) "S.Parthasarathy" wrote: > > Sri Mate' Sri LakshmiNrusimha ParaBrahmane' Nama: > SriMate' Sri Lakshmi Nrusimha Divya Paadukaa Sevaka Sri Vann Satagopa > Sri Naarayana Yateendra Mahaa Desikaaya Nama: > > > Dear SriMaan MahaVishnu Swami, > There is small correction in your posting regarding the > Swyam Vyakta Kshetrams. They are 10 Kshetrams and not 8 as you mentioned. > > They are as follows. > (1) Srirangam (Also called Yoga Mandapam) > (2) Tirupati (Also called Pushpa Mandapam) > (3) SriMushnam (Lord Varaaha Swami temple in > Villupuram-to-Ariyalur Area) > (4) Vaanamaamalai (South tamilnadu) > (5) Naimisaaranyam (Near Lucknow) > (6) Pushkaram (Pushkar) (Near Ajmer) > (7) Saalagraamam (In Nepal) > (8) Badrikaasramam (Badrinath) > (9) Kanchipuram (Dhyaana Mandapam) > (10) Melkote (Thiunaarayanapuram) (Gnana mandapam) > > These Shrines' perumal fotos have been inscribed as a painting in the > wall in Srirangam temple in a place called "Kili mandapam" which has its > own significance, which is just left side of Sanctum Sanctorium and is in > the "Pradakshinaa path" next to Thiruvannaazhi Pradakshinaaa path ,called > as Raaja Mahendran Thiruchchutru in tamil. > > http://www.iitian.com : An Extraordinary place for Extraordinary people
