Guest guest
Sri Raamajayam SrimathE GopAla DEsika MahA DEsikAya Namaha Dear Bhagavathaas, We had a great morning on this 5th day of Dhanur Maasam, coinciding with the Thiruppavai Paasuram "Mayanai Mannu Vada Mathurai Mainthanai". U.Ve.Sri.Hari and Kutti Perumaal(Saligrahma moorthy), took great pains to make it to our home early in the morning(4.30am). The day started with Thiruppaavai recital, followed by Prathas Sandhyavandanam, followed by Saligrahma Aaradhanai. Sri.Hari brought out the essence of the first 4 stanzas of Thiruppavai, before embarking on "Mayanai Mannu Vada Mathurai Mainthanai" Paasuram. The repeated message of Sri.Hari, in concurrence to our Poorvacharyas(including Sri.Parasara Bhattar) message, that Andaal's Thiruppavai is the Bheejam(or Vitthu in Tamizh or seed in English) for the Vedas, is well understood if one stands to listen to our Sri Vaishnava Acharyas(heard through Sri.Hari). An example is how the first three Paasuram bring out Dhaarakam, Poeshakam and Bhoghyam as well as the Tattvam, Hitham and Pu! rushaartham is well brought out by the key words, "NaraayananaE NamakkE Parai Tharuvaan", "Uyyumaaraenni Ukanthaeloerempaavai" & "Neengaatha Selvam" in the Divya Dhampathis". As for Maayanai Mannu Vada Mathurai Mainthanai Paasuram, Sri.Hari explained, how the word Maayan should be construed, as wonder and not illusion. This was well illustrated, explaining the wonders Sri.Krishna brought out as a child to his parents(at birth with AdisEsha holding his head as an Umbrella, Yamuna giving way to Vasudeva, Yashoda witnessing the Universe in Sri.Krishnas apparently innocent mouth, the Shanka/Chakra rekhai[prints]left from his hands and feet etc) and explained the greatness of the Yamuna river. Even Ganges whose sanctity came from the feet of the Lord, was blemished with Brahma and Rudras touched it with the aim of cleansing their sins(Ithara Devathaa Samantham), but Yamuna was constantly cleansed with Bhagavad Samantham. So such is the wonder of our Lord and we should hold him in such purity without Anya Devathaa Samantham that we may be blessed with Purity(ThuuyoEmaai Vanthu) to think about him, and all our sins which prevent us from doing Kaimkaryam to the Lord would be instantly burnt like dust in fire. After the Upanyaasam, since our ears were filled, we turned the attention to our stomach for some gratifying Prasaadham to continue the day with recharged energy. Many thanks to Kaimkarya Sri U.Ve.Sri Hari Swamin. Sri Ramanuja Dasoham Rukmani & Sudarsan Parthasarathy
