Guest guest
Dear Members, ============================================================ Mani Varadarajan <mani wrote: (a) The normal order of events during mArgazhi mAsam is FIRST the usha: kAla visesha ArAdhana, including tiruppAvai recital and only then the prAta: sandhyA. The reason for this is that the visesha ArAdhana is done before sunrise, so it belongs before the sandhyA (clarified by Srimat Poundarikapuram Andavan Swami). ============================================================ The order (kramam) which SrI Mani Varadarajan has mentioned is the correct order as far as dhanur-mAsa-ArAdhanam is concerned. This order was followed implicitly; I had performed a laghu-ArAdhanam in usha: kAlam before I took (ezhundaruLa seidal) bhagavath sAligrAga-mUrthy to the upanyAsam venue. This kramam was also told by me to audience before upanyAsam. ============================================================ ============================================================ Mani Varadarajan <mani wrote: (b) The criticism of the Ganga river sounds rather harsh. ......... bhavAnga-patitam toyam pavitram iti paspRSuH | ........ Perhaps it is 'na hi nindA stuti', but still a little bit troublesome. ============================================================ "na hi nindA nindyam nindithum pravarthahE, api thu stuthyam sthOthum" The anuditha-hOma-nindA-nyAyam may also be considered here. But still, AlwAr himself has given importance to river kAveri and has called it superior in purity. This shows that there has been stuthi for a river which is superior to river gangA in an aspect. There are rivers superior to river gangA in one or other aspect. But river ganga is anyway regarded and not disrespected. Also, the nUpura-ganga (at Tiru-mAl-irun-chOlai, kaL-Azhagar sannadhi) is told as "paSupathi jatA-sparsha-sUnyA" by our swAmi. The gangA is called as tri-srOtha. At Tiru-mAl-irun-chOlai, a dhAra (stream) of gangA came to the world from Bhagavath Trivikrama's nUpuram. This dhAra of gangA is free from the sambandam of paSupathi jatA sparsham and thus distinguished from the known river gangA. The dEvathAntara-sambanda-varjanam is the distinguishing feature of this nUpura-ganga, which is held as a special viSEshaNam for nUpura-gangA here. These points may be noted here in this context. This is to substantiate that dEvathAntara-sambanda-varjanam is a purity for SrI VaishNavas. That is, SrI VaishNavas should NOT have dEvathAntara-sambandam. Also, the well-known river gangA is celebrated in the SAstra only because it is having Trivikrama-tiru-vadi sambandam. (Ref. NAn mukan tiruvandAdi - Tirumalizai Alwar - "kurai koNda nAnmukan kundikai neer paidu... karai koNda kaNdaththAn chenni mEl ErakkazhuvinAn...). PArvathi pathi is "Aaru sadai karandAn" who took the gangA in his jatA for getting his sins removed and thus became celebrated as "gangA-dhara" and "Siva". But yamuna has krishNa's full tiru-mEni sambandam. It has been a witness for all the krishNa-divya-leelas. Guest guest
Dear Members, Regarding 'devatAntara-sambandha-varjanam' with respect to the rivers, I had clarrified it as "na hi nidA". >The noble doctrine of only meditating on and worshipping >the Ultimate Cause is here reduced to a mockery of its >true self. The aim was not this. But as SrI Mani Varadarajan says so, I request him and others not to take it in such a sense. The "river concept" under discussions (in this context) may not to be taken as a serious "philosophical" point. But still, regarding the phrase 'paSupati-jaTA-sparSa-SUnya' and "inappropriate quote", I will write to clarrify at a latter date by quoting other scholars. I need some time to get the exact reference titles etc. I do acknowledge the greatness of the river gangA as celebrated in the authentic scriptures. I agree with the greatness of jAnhavi (river ganga) thoyam as "owshadam" (medicine) as it is Trivikrama-tiru-vadi-theertham, and "vaidya:" (doctor) as NArAyaNa: Hari: and I conclude this mail. Thanks & Regards M.S.HARI rAmAnuja dAsan (mshari) __________________ Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=
