Thirumazhisai AzhwAr has been intimately associated with this dhivya desam . PerumAl and ThAyAr are beautiful. On eof the Mudhal AzhwArs was born in a lotus at the temple tank . The Bhattars at this temple have a meagre income and Aaradhanam is being done with difficulty. Your support will be timely and appreciated . Sriman T.A.Varahdan (copied on this note) is a native of Kaanchipuram and has a project to support kaimkaryams at the Dhivya desams . I request him to write to you about the channeling of your samarpaNam to Kaimkaryam at this temple .Thanks Sri Varadan . If Srirangam RanganathAn's moolavar's Head is on our left , YathOkthakAri's head is on our right side .Devi sarasvathi is standing at His feet on the left side. The beauty of this PerumAL is outstanding. Please visit the KshEthram . Best wishes, V.Sadagopan
Guest guest
Dear Sri Narayanan, Sri Thirukoshtiyur Madhavan of Chennai has established a process in which interested devotees can "adopt" one of the 106 divya dEshams in India, including the beautiful Yathothakari koil in Kanchipuram. The following are details on this project as recently posted by Sri T A Varadhan. Please feel free to contact me if I can provide further information. adiyEn rAmAnuja dAsan mohan raghavan srImathE saTakOpAya namah srImathE rAmAnujAya namah srImathE anantArya mahAguravE namah srIman vara vara munayE namah dear bhAgavathAs, This is an update on the divya dEsam kainkaryam. adiyEn could not get in touch with srI. thirukkOshtiyUr mAdhavan svAmi for the past week or so as he had gone to mangai madam for the kainkaryam there. At last, adiyEn was able to get in touch with him last night. He was very pleased with the enthusiastic response from bhAgavathAs on adopting divya dEsams. adiyEn will send a separate email giving the divya dEsams adopted so far and the bhAgavathAs adopting them. While adiyEn was speaking to him, mAdhavan svAmi touched on one more aspect of divya dEsam kainkaryam that is very important. This has been discussed in the bhakti list too sometime back. srI. mAdhavan svAmi and interested bhAgavathAs have procured a bus, fit the bus with a hydraulic ladder, and many tools (like maNvetti, etc..). Also, they take a lot of cleaning materials. Every friday, saturday and sunday, about 25 bhAgavathAs take the bus with the cleaning materials and go to a divya dEsam - They clean the temple completely (sweep all the temple, clean all the shrubs inside the temple, remove the weeds and bushes that grow on the walls, treat the areas with weed-killers to stop future growth, sanitize the appropriate areas AND set up a flower garden in a cleaned up area (to the extent possible). Also, a local person is given the responsibility to maintain the garden and the temple from then on. They will revisit the temple again on a rotational basis to maintain the cleanliness. This weekend, they are going to kUram, srIperumbUdUr and another temple if possible - Next week, the bus will go to some chOzha nAttu divyadEsams. adiyEn felt that this needed to be shared with the bhAgavathAs on this list. coming to the divya dEsam kainkaryam, here are the details for bhAgavathAs outside the United States AND bhAgavathAs in the United states who do not want to wait till the SVSS channel is set up (it might take atleast one more month for the SVSS channel to be set up since it requires some paperwork to be obtained from India) - cheque (preferably bankers' cheque) payable to srI sowmyanArAyaNan emperumAnAr charitable trust West Car Street, ThirukkOshtiyUr, TamizhnAdu 630210. Or, the cheque can be mailed to srI. mAdhavan svAmi himself (please make sure the cheque is payable to the trust) - 17, srI kEsava perumAl south street Mylapore, Chennai 600 004. adiyEn would suggest the following - please include a letter with the following details with the cheque - 1. name of the sponsor 2. address of the sponsor 3. name/address of the sponsor's India contact 4. address where receipts and prasAdam needs to be mailed to 5. please email adiyEn with the details to make sure that adiyEn keeps track of the effort - also, ensure that no duplication occurs in terms of multiple bhAgavatAs adopting the same temple. 6. adiyEn suggests that sponsors send a cheque for 3 months at a stretch atleast to start with - it might make money transfer, collection of cheques etc.. easier. Also, if local relatives/friends of the sponsor wish to go to the divya dEsam tour every month, then srI. mAdhavan can arrange to pick them up when the van goes - only caveat is that the trip will be a little hetic considering all the divya dEsams that need to be covered within 3/4 days. If that is needed, adiyEn will be glad to co-ordinate with mAdhavan svAmi on your behalf to arrange that. adiyEn madhurakavi dAsan, AzhvAr emperumAnAr jIyar thiruvadigaLE saraNam, thirumalai anandAnpiLLai varadhan
