Dear friend:

It is not a question of yuga dharma. To my knowledge,even in Draupadi's

days, there was no SAsti~c sanction for polyandry.The case of Draupadi was

an exception to the rule and cannot be cited as a precedent in any yuga.

 

Similarly, Bhishma was lying on his arrow bed until the dawn of Uttarayanam

and he cast his mortal coil at that time. Can anyone postpone one's time of

death as Bhishma did? This is another instance where the "exception proves

the rule" and cannot be quoted , leave alone, adopted by others.

 

However, the incidents in the Itihasas and Puranas do have some moral

lessons for us. For greater details. you may look into the Bhakti archives

where in my series "Myths, Miracles and Mysticism" I have alluded to several

mythlogical episodes in "Part I Myths" and what lessons they teach us.These

lessons have eternal value, not only for the yuga in which the incidents had

taken place.
